Re: Quark 9/14/19 Limbs

Nice captures Jack !!!

Cloud and rain today and I spent Saturday cutting firewood so no solar for me this weekend. Saturday was mostly sunny, but I had to take advantage of my son's willingness to help with wood while he was home from university ;)

Re: A day late and a penny short

Hi Lou...

Very nice set of prom images :bow

I know how it feels to have something like that foul up the session. More than once I have missed removing the clear plastic bags that acts as a dust cap on the CR-150, can spend all kinds of time curing the fact the scope wont focus :o

September 9th Ha

Hi everyone... A very short session on Monday after a late lunch, allowing me to get out shortly after 1pm local time. The views at the eyepiece were pretty barren, and only a few small proms popped in with he longer exposures of the limb. Below is a disk/limb composite through the LS80T/DSII/B1200H...

Re: September 7th Session

Yes, camera has the ability to pull up the fainter proms compared to what you eye can perceive. At the eyepiece I could make out the brighter part of the arc but that was it. The northern 'spot' that I imaged showed as a small white spot to the eye, and probably enhanced in the double stacked scope....

September 7th Session

Good day everyone... Saturday looked promising for some solar work as the day dawned, but the forecast held true to its 'mix of sun and cloud' description...heavier on the cloud part though ;) I managed to get a set of full disk images and start on the higher resolution work before the clouds shut m...

Re: Blocking filters and wintertime

Hi all... In my experience, the cold hasn't made an effect on the blockers (Ha or CaK) in the cold. I've posted images taken during the winter in airtemps down to -26C with no heat applied. This is the extreme, but -5 to -15C is typical in the winter. I think the bigger concern is taking the cold fi...

Phil and Mark...

Many thanks to you both for your feedback :bow

Mark, it does sound familiar but at least back at the end of July it wasn't terribly cold yet. Hopefully you get a decent amount of clear weather in the coming months to enjoy the day and night skies.

September 1st Ha Session

Good day everyone... I finally managed to get some time to post these images from Sunday, and like everyone else was very happy to see some activity on the disk. The first set of images are various palates of my standard full disk composite using separate disk and limb exposures, using the doubled s...
