Re: Full disk Sun 18-02-2018

Hi Rainer...

I am planning to attend NEAF, so it would be a great opportunity to meet up. I have bumped into Eric other years but missed Franco last year.

I like the mount you are upgrading to...been eyeing them myself!!

Re: Today's SUN (20180218) | WL, Ca-K, Ha FD images

Eric... The dead servo is the easier of the two...finally dug out me spare if I need it. I’m not sure if the dec motor is dead or jammed. It worked fine on Friday night but while imaging Jupiter early Saturday morning the Gemini was giving dec lag warnings and then stalled mortor. I’ll have to disma...

Re: Today's SUN (20180218) | WL, Ca-K, Ha FD images

I’mm Under cloud this I weekend and Monday is a provincial holiday so no work, so that makes it more frustrating that it is cloudy. I have been having problems with the two main mounts (GoTo not cooperating on one and a dead servo to change on the other), so I have a maintenance weekend. Most likely...

Re: Sol from the 16th of February 2018.

Hi Eric... Good to hear that you managed to avail any major damage and by the accounts on the news there was not a lot of widespread damage with this one. Surprised considering the magnitude stated...also good to hear there were warnings. The solar pic is very sharp as well. Great work under the cir...

Re: ZWO ASI 178 or 183 mono

Hi Ken... I don't have either of these cameras, but I do use the ASI290 with 2.9u pixels for planetary work and it works pretty nicely. As for the two you mentioned they appear to be pretty much identical...same size pixels, same exposure range, not a lot of direct spectral response info on the ZWO ...

That is about the worse we get for heat and humidity! I was afraid you were going to say it was in the 40's.

Re: A few from February 12th

Thanks Alexandra...

It was really a treat to get this AR after a long drought of large scale activity. The proms look great in the images, but it took the camera to pull them up as I didn’t see much of them visually.

A few from February 12th

Hi everyone... I finally had a clear day that I could spend some time at the scope and not be clouded out after 10 minutes  To top if off we have AR2699 putting on a great show after a long stretch of low activity. In addition to the large AR there were some nice proms too!!! The images below...

Re: Barlow and focus

I have usually found that the barlow element need to have the focuser racked out to re-focus after fining focus with out it. Is it possible that the upgraded focuser takes up more 'space' which limits the amount of focus travel?

Just a thought...hope you get it sorted out.
