Your FD's are always impressive Pedro...these are excellent :bow

Too bad the one AR is rotating off the limb, though there were a few small areas today that may develop in to something more.

Re: H-alpha with 250 mm RCT

Hi Stuart... The image looks good under the conditions you describe. These large scopes need above average conditions by the looks of it. A year on and I'm still not overly happy with my 25cm SCT project but I hope to get more time to work on it this spring. Keep us posted on your efforts and result...

Re: Thermal Acclimation of My Lunt50

Hi all...

I missed explaining the conditions that the LS80T is used in at my observatory...winter has been used in as cold as -26C and as warm as 35C in summer...nice comfortable range

Re: Thermal Acclimation of My Lunt50

Hi Mark... I leave my LS80T and the DSII modded refractor out in the observatory all year round and they are usually close to ambient air temp any time I go out to observe/image. I have never had an issue as you described...I may have to adjust the pressure a bit more than simple tuning if the tempe...

Re: April 23rd Session

Thanks Bart...

The seeing needs to be good to keep the fine details sharp. I find the umbra is always tough...challenge of seeing and different brightness/contrast around the core makes it hard to show well.

Re: Daystar QUARK Chromosphere H-alpha Filter

Rainer... Daystar has said on many occasions that a UV/IR cut can be used safely when placed ahead of their filters on scopes up to 150mm. I have used my Quantum with a 2" Baader UV/IR with no issues, though I wouldn't let it track the sun for too long or tube Currents will most likely build up. Sma...

April 23rd Session

Hi All... The late winter/early spring weather here has limited my ability to do much solar work...a week ago we were digging out from a storm that dumped 30cm of snow on us and freezing rain that took out power far large parts for Ontario for a day or two. Now, sun and temps in the high teens has t...

Hi Pedro...

Thanks for commenting on the selection of pics...we have to thank Franco for them I believe.

It would be great if we could get a larger group of us together sometime...such good interaction here in the forum, unfortunate that distance makes it a hard thing to meet in person.
