Back to the Ha filter specs...

TheSkyBurner...good to know it has promise. I wasn't sure if the IR leak as beyond the 1,000nm and didn't show up on standard plots.

Re: A very special prom on Oct 10

Hi everyone... A couple of questions to pose here as the discussion evolves. First, in the spring of 2017 when I got the Airylab telecentric I met Frédéric at NEAF and he suggested adding a Ha filter in image train. Their telecentric has a 1.25" filter mount before the amplifier optics and can be ti...

More October 10th Proms

Hi everyone... I too was out for a short session over lunch today and captured a few full disk and the main prom on the western limb that showed a lot of details. The images below are disk/limb composites taken with the LS75 etalon on my Williams Optic 72mm, f6 APO and B1200 blocker. The first is pr...

Re: A very special prom on Oct 10

Hi Lou...

The proms came out well with all setups. I think the C9.25 did a great job with the chromospheric details as well.

Re: Lunt calcium filter imaging thread

It is too bad that some places on earth suffer from the pollution as shown in the pic posted for the 'televised sunrise'. I suspect that unless there is major change in thinking these places will continue to degrade. I only hope that clearer minds will continue to push efforts to preserve the enviro...

Re: Today's SUN (20181004) with GREAT seeing

Hi Pedro...

These FD's are as sharp as the previous day, but the hi-res granulation is excellent. I like how we can see short instances of better seeing...great to have the image processing capabilities of today.

Re: New Lunt Mod

Bart, Stu, Raf, and Derek... Thanks for all the feedback on the setup. Cloudy/rainy Thanksgiving holiday weekend has set in here, so more testes will have to wait. Maybe a nice big AR will appear next week to use as a test subject ;) Raf, I use the extender to bump the focal length/image scale. I al...

Re: New Lunt Mod

Raf... I see that Explore Scientific has just introduced a 2"version of the 3x extender. It isn't as much an issue with the Ha system (1.25" blocking filter), but I prefer to reduce as many adapters (2"-1.25") as I can to keep the collection of optics as well aligned as I can. If it will fit ahead o...

Re: New Lunt Mod

Hi Raf... Thanks for the feedback on the setup. I hate to keep the LS80 in pieces and it does such a nice job on full disk images. I had been thinking of trying a Quark without the built in barlow as a DS unit (the photoshereic one might work ok as I'm not trying to beat the Quantum) but I don't hav...

New Lunt Mod

Hi everyone... A quick post about a revision I made to my modded Celestron CR-150 OTA/Lunt DSII etalon mod. I have been wanting to set up a double stack on this system but never had a lot of time to pursue it...had been thinking of trying a Quark but wasn't prepared to shell out the cash without kno...
