Re: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from plasma filament, March 11
all I’m saying is that every filament or prominence that lifts up and leaves the chromosphere does not turn into a coronal mass ejection. so, someone saying that they are imaging a CME when they are actually imaging and ejecting prominence is not accurate. It is pretty common and almost routine for ...

barnstorm, I went over and watched the YouTube video you cited where the lady tries to make solar weather look like a news style weather report. I need to point out that nowhere in that video did she say that a filament being released is a CME. Also, all the wavelengths that they are viewing in this...

Re: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from plasma filament, March 11
in a manner of speaking I guess you could say those ejected prominences “become” CME’s. I believe it would be more correct to state the active region or magnetic disturbance that caused the ejecting prominence may also cause a part of the corona to be ejected which is what a CME is. If I had a nicke...

nothing on the sun is sharp and there are no sharp edges.
We get people like McCarthy show up every couple years and then just keep pushing it further and further for more social media attention until they get caught doing something really stupid and fake.
Anyway, to each his own.
