Re: Sun & Moon 20th Sept '19

Gorgeous. I'm trying to increase my skills to get that clarity on resolution. Any tips? Hi Jack, Specifically for the prom shots.... Use as fast a frame rate as possible. I use a Basler acA1920-155um IMX 174 sensor (up to 160 fps) with 6-10ms exposures, but faster is better to really freeze the act...

Many thanks, everyone. I was fortunate that everything came together, including the seeing conditions, which can’t be said for the skies yesterday. The seeing conditions were awful and nothing in hi-res worked.

Sun & Moon 20th Sept '19

A few images of the Sun and Moon captured at various times throughout the day. The lovely large prom remains the main point of interest on an otherwise extremely blank Sun, whilst the waning Gibbous Moon provides wonderful views of the heavily cratered regions in local setting sunlight. https://live...

Excellent work, Peter. Is there any specific reason for selecting +/- 34km/s?

Keep well.

Slim Pickings.... 14th Sept '19

Hi everyone, A blank Sun and few proms make for slim pickings. Here's a view of a minor magnetically active region in Ha using my 150mm DS Lunt 35 mod. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48731202126_3324541138_o.png 20190914_Ha_Chromosphere by Stuart Green , on Flickr I managed just 3 SER captures ...

Good grief Peter. A bit of a shock to hear the news this morning. I’m just back from my hols in Crete and starting to catch up on things, but didn’t expect to hear you’d had a heart attack. I hope you continue to make a full recovery and that any lasting damage to the ticker is absolutely minimal. L...

Re: H-alpha 31 august, 7 inch Intes, reflections and a BF30.

Hi Bart, I assume the D-ERF is tilted a little bit to reduce the reflections from this surface? Similarly with the Baader 35nm? Actually, can the Baader filter be fitted on the camera nose-piece instead? I add a 656nm/7nm FWHM filter (to boost contrast) on my optical train (250mm RCT), but I place t...
