Re: Solar Flare 1st July 14
We were lucky to be looking about 7pm this evening and saw a fantastic flare; worth having a look on GONG, although it does not show it in all it's glory.
Big Bear shows it nicely, but slow it down a bit. It was taller than shown too.

Re: Advantages of Stage I and Stage II
Not having progressed to serious imaging yet, all my comments and the three tester were using standard
Mk 1 eyeball.
So I think we can agree that for visual there is little to justify the extra costs of stage 2, but there may well be advantages for imaging, which I have yet to do/assess?

Re: Advantages of Stage I and Stage II
I've only ever seen one person who swears there no difference between a stage 1 and a stage 2, I have better things to do than deal with that. Well JohnM some side by side testing was done with 2 TAL/PST stage 1 and a Vixon florite/PST stage 2 and the three testers favored the stage 1. I hope some ...

Re: Advantages of Stage I and Stage II
OK, there's a major advantage to getting rid of the Black Box of the PST and in particular getting that penta-prism out of the light train.
And they are what exactly?
Having used both side by side and bigger scope conversions I would be interested.

Ahh that is a problem, but there is always a solution.
I assume you have 12v available?
Then why not get one of the 12v to (whatever voltage your laptop is) from e-bay for a couple of pounds?
Handy for use in the car too when you are out with the camera.

This is my best PST and it works staggeringly well grafted to a TAL100. Peter Drew and I have both compared it to various PSTs and PST conversions.
