Hello Pedre Re, I was just wondering why with good seeing conditions that you don't increase your focal length and get a more detailed image?

Well its Friday May 30th. Pamela and I haven’t been out since we got back from the Starlight Festival at Big Bear in CA. Casting out our solar net and anxious to see what we might catch I focused in on AR 2075. Seeing Conditions were predicted to be 4.0 but I had to wait till 10:30 to get a 3.6. Tra...

Don't image at F30 I never do and I use a DayStar Quantum PE .5 angstrom filter for years now. Image between F16 to F20. You'll be glad you did!

Re: Seeing Conditions
Eric when using your Daystar filter don't use the recommended F30. Go to F16 to F20. I think that you will be happy with the results and forget the field reducer at the camera. That's just more glass in the path. I NEVER use F30 any more. Only F16 on my AP 152.

Re: Seeing Conditions
Hi Chris, I agree. I think that at lower elevation you have much more dust and pollution that will scatter light and reduce contrast. As far as the movement of the solar image that effect is caused by the upper atmosphere, I believe unless your very close to a building or other structure. I have vie...

Exceptional Seeing Conditions on April 20th
About once per month I get a day that it's hard to tell that the camera is even on, even at 2400mm focal length. Aproximately 75 percent of the images were above the 80 percent line in the AutoStakkert 2 quality graph. I stacked 35 percent of the 2000 images taken. I'm sure that I could have stacked...
