Wow, after a 7+ year break from this forum, I'm posting here again. I must have a solar driven cycle ... I think I dropped off after the changes to the hosting site; so glad my username (and password) still worked. ;) Hoping to contribute to the group once more and post some pictures w...

Yes, I'm very pleased and although "10 force" winds this morning, it's sunny!

Stephen, they charged me nothing - but Chris was pretty clear that it's not something they'd like to do on "a regular basis"...so my apologies for taking up that blank!

Re: De-contacted SM60 etalon - what to do?

Hello All I'm happy to tell you that Chris and Terry at ICOS were able to fix my de-contacted SM60. I tried applying pressure to it as suggested in this forum and Chris initially tried the same also but the spacers had moved and dust had come into the inter-plate space. Over the course of a week, Te...

Re: De-contacted SM60 etalon - what to do?

Robert I will try your suggestion first. I'm wondering "how firm" I should be. All silicon drops are still in place around the two etalon plates so am I right in assuming that pressure only needs to be applied to one of the two plates at 120 degrees spacing or so? If this fails, I have now...

Re: De-contacted SM60 etalon - what to do?

Thank you guys for all the suggestions.

Es Reid suggested contacting IC Optical Systems in London. They are driving distance from where I live but it appears that they fabricate a different kind of etalon and may not be able to help me. I will call them in any case.

Re: De-contacted SM60 etalon - what to do?

Well thank you all for your messages of support. I opened the damaged SM60 unit last night and compared it to the good one and to be honest could not see any obvious difference. The two units are still attached to each other, the silicone drops that keeps the etalon within its case is fine and there...

Hello All As per my previous topic in this forum, I carried out a solar outreach event at one of the local primary schools last week.
