You can use Autostakkert. It can correct the rotation of images taken with an altazimutal mount.

Re: Help Diagnose an SCT?

Hello Marty, Thanks for taking the time of takin in/out focus images. This is helpfull. We can see the following things : - There is a very significant level of spherical aberration. It could be because the thermal balance of the optics was not reached, or the optics are really bad, or both. - The t...

Re: Dismantling and modification of a PST CaK

So, finally there are two filters : - Number 2 at the rear. Actually it consists in two parts (glued ?). - Number one at the front (behind the lens ?), this one is a GG395 according to the information given by Apollo. Is this correct ? No filter at the front of the eyepice ? BTW, the lens seems to b...

Re: Help Diagnose an SCT?

Hello Marty, This is an interesting case :-) Let's start with the resolution of the lunar and planetary images. They are far from beeing on pair with what a 10" telescope can give. This leads us to the question of seeing and / or optical quality of the telescope. The simple question is do you see th...

Re: A very special prom on Oct 10

Hello Lou, Nice images of spicules. You are slighly off-band, but this is good for the contrast of spicules. Now, you are ready for good seeing :-) BTW-1, a 35 nm would have zero effect on the contrast. You need to go down to below 5 A to see any contrast enhancement. See middle of this page : http:...

Re: Impact of telescope height on the seeing

Hello Bruce, We used two AiryLab SSM. We also started a session with three SSM running at 1, 1.5 and 2 m high, but this session was quickly clouded. The inhomogeneities of the air in the boundery layer depens on the wind speed, type and temperature of the ground. I am planning to make some tests at ...

Re: Sharpening high resolution CaK images

Hello Valery, I hope we have an English version of the book in one year or so. I do agree, my use of "easy" was a bit of an overstatement ;-) My point was to say that, compared to visible light and "normal" granulation, we can see "inverse granulation" closer to the limb in Ca K. Apollo, the sun is ...

Re: Sharpening high resolution CaK images

Hello Frank, Thanks for opening this very interesting question. This is one I tried to answer in the book I am publishing at the end of the month. http://www.astronomiesolaire.com/ Indeed, I have a paragraph on "reverse granulation", and an extensive discussion on artifacts and the limit between pro...

Re: HR images of AR2720 Aug 25, C14 EdgeHD versus 300 mm solar scope challenge

Thanks to all :-) Laura : Yes indeed, an Astrosolar 2.5 would be perfect. We should probably all send a request for that? I might have the opportunity to meet with Mr. Thomas Baader at the end of the month. I'll try to convince him ;-) BTW, we also tested a density 2.5 filter for another manufacture...
