Marvellous and very informative. Thanks for sharing !
Could you slow do a little bit the movie ?
It seems to me that the "spicules bushes" are best visible at +/- 0.4A.
Could you make another monatge with larger resolution ? Let's say with the solar disk twice the size of this first montage ?

Beautilful resolution !
I was thinking you might give a try with an OIII filter.

Ca K images of August 4

Dear All, Some very limited activity can be spotted in Ca K on August 4. Here are some images taken with the Takahashi TOA 150 : http://astrosurf.com/viladrich/astro/soleil/2018/CaK-4August2018-8h42mnUT-TOA-IDS.jpg A zoom on the area at the center of the disk : http://astrosurf.com/viladrich/astro/s...

Re: High resolution images of the granulation with the 300 mm solar scope : from red light to violet (G band)

Hi Valery,
The processing for photopheric images is very simple. I just apply an unsharp mask (sigma = 1.4 pixel, k = 8). Nothing else.
Best regards
Christian

Re: High resolution images of the granulation with the 300 mm solar scope : from red light to violet (G band)

Thanks Peter,
I have updated the 500 and 540 nm images. Now, the processing of both images is consistent. In the previous version, I had applied a more agressive filter to the 540 nm image, which resulted in a reduction of the difference between both images.

Re: High resolution images of the granulation with the 300 mm solar scope : from red light to violet (G band)

Thanks to all :-) Valery : I agree with you, the G band image has something of its own. The granulation cells are very diffentiated with different levels of shades. Pedro : you've got a keen eye ;-) The seeing was really oustanding for these images. Even better than what we experienced last August a...

High resolution images of the granulation with the 300 mm solar scope : from red light to violet (G band)

Dear All, I was nearly one year since the last time I use my 300 mm solar telescope. Last Saturday morning, the conditions were not very promising. The wind came from Nord-West, which usually is not good for the seeing. And the sky was coronal, which is not good either. On top of that there was not ...

Re: NEW direction in the solar narrowband imaging.

Does anybody with a spectrograph can have a look at the transmission spikes of a Coronado etalon around 854 nm ?
It would be a marvellous coincidence if a transmision peak was right at 854.2 nm.

Re: Can i use my EDGEHD800 for Ha?

The secondary mirror has no effect at all. It is compatible with F/10 collimating lens (= PST) or mica-spaced etalons.
For mica-spaced étalon, you need a F/30 telecentric. AiryLab telecentric are designed for SC.

Skyburnner ... don't forget to read the paper you gave a link to : https://www.aanda.org/articles/aa/full/ ... 82-06.html The images you are showing are "numerically synthesized from a 3D solar magneto-convection simulation". There are not actual images ;-) An important point is missed in the discus...
