Hi I had only a few minutes of clear sky this morning, interrupted by showers, and at 53 deg North the sun only barely clears the neighboring rooftops. This morning I narrowly managed to make enough recordings in periods of relatively cloud free skies before the sun moved behind the roof.

2 ISS solar transits within 96 minutes

Hi Today Calsky indicated a double solar transit 20km north of Hamburg, Germany, where I live. Fortunately my mothers place was inside the region where both transits were visible. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/614/20171941284_2e79e2b917_b.jpg Data: Pentax 75 SDHF @ 500mm, DMK41, TAL glass full apar...

BTW I'd like to see WL images in somewhat larger scale. May be a 3x barlow will be better for finer details? Here are some links to higher res versions. My 2X Barlow effectively already yields approx. 3X (f/30) as the Herschel wedge gives considerable extra extension. This exeeds the Nyquist theore...

Re: What scope for the PST Mod?

Do you intend to use the refractor for anything else but H-alpha? If not: For our 70/700 PST "Sunlux" mod the host scope has a lousy 1.25" focuser. We simply cut the tube precicely that the backfocus (distance between the rear of the adapter and the focus) is identical to that of the ...

Hi Just figured out that there are 2 generations of Baader's solar continuum filter, which I use routinely for white light imaging. Alfred, I took videos with 2000 frames and used 6% of them in Autostakkert. This eliminates a lot of the seeing problems. Concerning heat input into the tube I don't consider this a major factor. The scope won't heat up very much except directly at the focus. The prism is quite a few centimeters awa...
