Hello everyone-
Can you use a Daystar Quark Chromosphere on a Lunt 50mm SS solar scope to make the 50mm scope a double stack 0.5A solar scope DS? If so,how! Any adapters, etc.?
Thanks for any help,
Bob

Re: Wanted: Aperture Iris for solar observing
I am still waiting for Teleskop Services to give me total price of the setup. I may just get from Home Depot 2,5" rubber PVC end caps and cut out a 80mm hole on 1 of them, and 60mm hole in the other and stop it down that way, only costing me $12! We will see.

Re: Wanted: Aperture Iris for solar observing
Just got word from Teleskop Service in Germany: they DO make an adapter to put on my Lunt refractor to put the Baader aperture stop on! I gave them the measurements of my dew shield and am waiting to proceed further. I will post any updates for anyone who is interested in this.

Re: Wanted: Aperture Iris for solar observing
Yea,Mark, looks awesome. I might have to unscrew dew shield which would probably be necessary to install the aperture iris on just the OTA to fit.

Re: Wanted: Aperture Iris for solar observing
Thank you,Mark and Frank for your help! I have contacted Baader and TelesKop about this issue via email and hope to hear from them soon. I will let you both know the outcome.Yes,Mark,I am hopeful I can just tighten the aperture iris to the 5" dew shield with no problem, which I also asked them about ...

Re: Wanted: Aperture Iris for solar observing
Thanks,Bart- Nice looking one,but it needs a self made adapter, whichever surprisingly they do not sell per their website. I do not have any idea who would make an adapter for this item. It is really a shame this vendor doesn't sell any kind of adapter, don't you think that is kinda strange? It is lik...

Wanted: Aperture Iris for solar observing
Hello- I am looking to obtain an Aperture Iris for my Lunt Engineering 102mm ED refractor to stop down the scope from 102mm to 60mm using a Daystar Quark. I know I can make one from cardboard, plastic, etc.,but would like to get an aperture stop that is manually adjustable and looks professionally mad...

Daystar Binoviewer?
Hello- I was looking thru my file cabinet and came across an older Daystar catalog that advertised a Daystar Binoviewer 1.25". Does anyone know if this binoviewer was any good,or if someone has one would they be willing to sell it if it is OK to use for visual solar observing on my 102ED f/7 refract...

Re: Great prominences today: Achro 180 + Quark
Great images,Alessandro, with your setup. Image #7 (504.9 kib) looks like what I see visually with my Lunt Engineering 102mm ED f/7 refractor, with Quark Chromosphere, and 32mm Televue Plossl. I really like the spicules, especially with your images, and what I see visually with mine.Keep posting these a...

Re: Quark and TS 115 APO
Hi,Bill- You only need a QUALITY UV-IR cut filter to put on your diagonal. Daystar sells them. Also, one thing that Daystar owner Jen Winters told me is that for 100-150mm scopes, use a 2" diagonal, not a 1.25" diagonal, with the 2" UV-IR cut filter on the objective side(before the diagonal)of the diago...

Re: Quark and TS 115 APO
I am one of the fortunate Quark owners in that my Quark Chromosphere works like a dream! I use it with a Lunt Engineering 102mm ED f/7 refractor and 40mm,32mm,and 25mm Televue Plossl's. It makes me sad when I see others, especially in this forum, with so many respected solar observers, who have had bad...

Hi,Eric- I will be at NEAF depending on which day is sunny! I only live 45 minutes away.I hope Saturday and Sunday will be totally sun lit,but would prefer Saturday. Hi,Eric-
Frederic stated that he will be using his HaT with a Solar Spectrum 0.3A filter. That would be soooooo Cool!
Hope to see you there as well,
Best,
Bob

Visually,I have a Quark and use it with a Lunt Engineering 102mm ED f/7 scope for high mag. and high resolution visual views. Wondering if HaT gives similar views.

Hello-
Would like to know reviews on Airylab HaT solar scope. I see that Airylab is possibly going to have one setup at NEAF this year.I will be there to hopefully check it out for purchase.I see Mark T. has one or looked thru one (hey,Mark, what do you think).
Thanks,
Bob

Re: New hard-coated filters from Andover
Hello,Frank- I am very interested in replacing the 5mm PST BF with either the 12.5mm or 25mm from Andover as well! I have the newer PST purchased 3months ago,but want to go the same route you did. Do you have the newer PST that is glued and was it any trouble getting it unscrewed from the ITF filter...

Re: PST blocking filter specs.
Hi,Stephen- Thanks for your reply! I use a PST DS in tandem with a Quark Chromosphere on a Lunt Engineering 102ED f/7 refractor on a Minitower II and I love this setup, one for full disc, the other for hi-res closeup views. It is near perfec,BUT the small space around the sun is uncomfortable , I had a...

Re: PST blocking filter specs.
Hi,Mark-
The sweet spot is just off center and to the right of the visual image. I would like more space around the sun, which would be more aesthetically nicer.
