SM40 FD 28/5/18 - wobbly conditions

Dear All, I am updating my obsy so just had a quick session with my SM40 on 62mm Petzval rig. Alt-az, undriven PGR G3. Seeing very wobbly, but drifting cured the NRs. 50-75 frames stacked from 900 frame Ser. Best wishes, David Right click and view image for full size cat1centred2018-05-28_T_11-40-45...

Re: SM40 FD 22/5/2018

Thank you Franco and Pedro.
I have processed another SER captured with a different gamma value to see if I could tease out the proms
a little bit. Only partially successful.

SM40 FD 22/5/2018

Dear All, for what it is worth, I had a short session this morning. Not much to be seen. One smallish prom that I have not brought out in the quick process. I have reverted to my SM40 80mm F6 combo. 50 frames stacked from 600 frame SER using PGR . Right click and "view image" for full size. Best wis...

Early doors 19/5/18

Since my old dog has started getting me up at 5:30 in the morning, I decided to get an early session when the air was still. I got the Ta/PST mod out for prom action. Later I did a quick FD session with my SM40 on a Petzval 62mm but the seeing had deteriorated somewhat. These are the best of the bun...

SM40 on Petzval62mm FD 18/5/18

Dear All, Been playing with a small 62mm Petzval scope with my SM20 etalon on the front. Gives me a little more image scale whilst still covering the full disk. Skies not be great but a little better today. Struggling with the low contrast due to contrails. Anyway got something worth showing I think...

Re: Questar 3.5" Duplex

Pedro, If I remember correctly the first 5 indicates it was made in 1975,85 or 95. Duplexs were introduced in 1966 and the designator changed to two digits in 2000. The Questar Corporation will tell you which if you contact them with the serial number. They maintain details of registered owners. Bes...

Dear All,
grabbed a quick session early this morning just after sun got up over
the hill side.

Re: A couple of images from Fri 22/9/2017

Thank you Franco,Alexandra ,Matt and Stu. The weather is a total pain. I have a couple of lunar/planetary scopes that have not been used for so long I keep forgetting I have them. Snails are colonising one of my sheds, spiders another. Alexandra, I remember Summer, it was on a wednesday this year. B...

A couple of images from Fri 22/9/2017

Finally got a blue sky morning. Had to wait for the sun to get up above the hillside ( only just made it ). Beggars can't be choosers, rushed out to get a quick session with the Tal/PST mod + PGR G3. Typically cloud started to build so session did not last long (more rain) but got a couple of images...

A couple of images 2/9/17 seeing not so great. FD added

Dear All, Thick mist to start, then the thin cloud would not clear and finally it cleared and the cloud startied rolling in. Seeing very wobbly but a few glimpses of detail so had a go at imaging the active region. Best I could do, 50 frames from 1200 ( in 4 x300 frame SERs). Tal/PST mod, PGR G3. Ho...

Thank you Bart. I really need to play a bit more but will have to wait for a clear spell.
I am hoping it is not the C-ERF as it is over halfway up the tube and not easy to access.

Reflections - detective work needed !

Dear All, I recently re-jigged my optical train to make my BF10 into a straight-through configuration. I have not had much time to use it due to clouds, but I have some reflection issues I would like to solve. My current configuration in my Tal 100 PST mod is as follows : Internal sub-aperture C-ERF...
