Re: Sunspot 2719 in 3 wavelengths, Convection Cells, Proms | Aug 20th

WOW WOW WOW Hi Marty, Spectacular images. A question. That tilter is custom made or who sells them ? Thanks regards Hi Rainer, The tilt chamber is a skybender, they're no longer for sale (never really were for sale), but they move around the community. There's a thread about them in the modificatio...

Re: SunSpots 2718 & 2719, Convection Cells, Prominences, Disc Mosaic | Aug 18th 2018

Probably not official; I haven't seen anything truly designate it yet. I may have jumped the gun, so to speak. But it has a visible umbra, unlike 2718 which has decayed already. This new AR is still active, flaring a bit, hopefully it will be designated, I don't think it's a previous AR nor relativ...

Re: Full DIsk from 20180815

Absolutely stunning in full res :bow :bow Certainly that new AR and big fluffy worm filament should be easily seen in the Quantum. You need to find the area and gradually turn up/down the heat until you start to see improved surface contrast. It takes a long time to do this but worth the time. Once...

Hi,

Sky conditions were good for my old reliable double Coronado SM 60 stack but not for further testing my new Quantum as I saw Haze in the air.

As usual full size in new Tab or Window

Re: Ha Quantum filter PE 0.4Å

Hi, I had some holes between thick clouds and fired up the scope. I think I am getting closer and closer. Sky was still not good. A lot of haze. The imaging started with the Sun at an altitude of 55°. So I have to wait for better skies and then do a lot of imaging. Takahashi TOA 130 at 4000mm focal ...

Re: Ha Quantum filter PE 0.4Å

Rainer, According to Mark Wagner, who produce Solar Spectrum etalons (very much like DayStar does) the only correct ERF filter for such etalons is at least a red filter. The less unwanted heat from the sun will reach a etalon, the better etalon keeps it's position at a choosed wave length. Valery H...
