Re: Concept model of new 12" Solar Newton

With an horrendous haze today, these images of AR2685 are for the record only since sunspots have been scarce these days - far from masterpieces.

Semantics aside, the important issue is what to do to keep imaging. I live in the Caribbean where shipping is always an issue in terms of time/delays as well as keeping the customs folks happy. Pleased to hear that you agree.

Actually, it is the IR/UV "blocking filter". Try my suggestion out - what have you got to lose other than waiting for the replacement to arrive ? Trust me, I've been there and done that. Remember, it will happen again in the future.

Yesterday's eclipse in GCM

Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for the Eclipse. Tropical storm Harvey left his mark.

Re: Not much interest in AR2671

Hi Valery;

AR2671 looks pretty good in white light too. I would have expected more people to be imaging these spots.

Not much interest in AR2671

Though AR2671 is an interesting sunspot complex, there seems to be little interest in it as an imaging target. Nonetheless, it needs be imaged for the record and, so go my mornings. AR2671 stretched out on a bed of granules

AR2671 is really stretched out and slowly maturing in development. With Tropical Storm Harvey coming this way, this may be our last chance and, the solar eclipse may well compromised too. Harvey is moving westward and by mid-Monday will be due south of Cayman. TS Harvey2.jpg Aug19201708_38_38_g4_ap1...

Still there

Though quite windy today, AR2671 is still there and worthy of capture.

More of AR2671

AR2671 continues to captivate with its fragmented structure. Well worth watching over time - should make an interesting mosaic when done.
