Two Gstar Cameras to give away for Outreach

In the best spirit of the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project I would like to give away these awesome cameras to anyone who will use them in outreach. I have a Gstar EX2 Colour camera and a Gstar EX2 Monochrome camera, which I no longer use. Both cameras come complete with cables and a power suppl...

Re: Canada, Africa, California, Australia, San Antonio, Edmo

The Burdekin locals are getting excited. Here's a little something that one of the local ladies made. A complete and utter surprise to me. Just when you thought you'd seen everything - along comes Australian Chapter of the CBSAP CUPCAKES!!!!! The detail in the icing is incredible (and extremely yum!...

Correct Derek and Alan, Stephen will be flying into Brisbane (not by himself - but with the help of an aircraft! lol) then transferring to the Townsville connection and arriving in Townsville on Sunday 1st June at 10:55am. Interested in helping me greet Stephen at Townsville Airport? Then the drive ...

Impromptu Setup #2 - Ayr State High School

A quick 40 minute impromptu lunch-time setup at Ayr High School on Friday 14th March.

Thankfully the students were all media cleared at this school - so images could be taken freely.

All the schools in the area are looking forward to Stephen's tour in June! Not long to go now!!!

Re: Hopewell Middle School March 20th, 2014

Agree 100% with your comment there Cobber! Showing just one other person who hasn't had the experience of looking at or learning about the Sun, it just as important as showing 100+ people the same thing! That one person you showed the Sun to, will go off and tell their mates - and before you know it...

An impromptu setup at Home Hill State High School

G'day All, The new LUNT solar gear has arrived! After waiting patiently(?) for five days for clouds to clear and doing a initial setup of it all at home, I decided to take one of the scopes (LS152) to my base school - Home Hill High. Unfortunately pics of the students couldn't be taken without prior...

Re: Something worth sharing...

Already done & dusted! Just needed Stephen and Steele to fill in the paperwork so that they could operate under my blue card. Must admit though - the Working With Children department is one of the easiest Government Departments I've had to deal with. Very efficient and friendly. Pity other departmen...

Re: Finally the day has arrived! First Burdekin Solar Day!

Morning All, Well the First Burdekin Solar Day is done and dusted. After a rather foggy start to the day, setup started at 7:30am at the Home Hill High School oval. Solar displays and experiments were setup around the oval, ranging from how the Sun works to solar electricity. Students were also able...

Poor Stephen must be getting forgetful in his old age - not recognising his own Solar Glasses! lol

Still, Stephen has been promoted to a world renowned Astronomer by our local newspaper - so I guess we can forgive him for not recognising his new glasses. lol
