Re: Coronado BF30 - diagonal not needed? & BF preservation?
It's probabaly just RG630 - has it any coating on it? Post a picture... After chatting more with Meade and Oliver from Beloptik, yes it's just a 630, so not doing much more than increasing contrast. So operation without it is totally fine which means I can reach focus with my binoviewers and smalle...

Re: Coronado BF30 - diagonal not needed? & BF preservation?
Use this equipment as written on it: telescope with both etalons --> internal BF --> diagonal with a red filter. This all. In your case internal BF + red glass diagonal = complete BF. That is the simple answer, but I messaged Meade and they said the diagonal is not needed. The diagonal is also too ...

Re: New 2nm G-Band filter from Altair
So has anyone used this visually ? How would it compare with the Baader continuum/k filters for visual use ? Visually I find the 430nm filter considerably dimmer than the 540nm filter. Still it can be used visually without much difficulty. Faculae are more visible with the 430 vs the 540nm filter b...

I have a Solarmax2 90 DS with the BF30. The blocking filter is straight through but comes paired with a diagonal with a red lens in it. There's a sticker on the diagonal that explictely states: "WARNING! THIS DIAGONAL DOES NOT CONTAIN A BLOCKING FILTER. Use only with Coronado telescopes with BF...

So I thought I was making some progress however no dice. First picture is the BF, the adapter that attaches it to the helical focuser and the diagonal. If you cannibalize the helical focuser you can make a nice long train that holds the BF30, adapter, cannibalized helical, and the diagonal. It's not...

Acording to daystar an ERF is necessary only above 150mm however verify this yourself. Yes it is possible to mount an ERF internally but you will still be rejecting the heat in the tube which will cause turbulence and "poor seeing". You won't be getting the full benefits of mounting the ER...

You can use the new or old, preferably you'd want to look through it and verify the etalon is in good shape. No banding or uneven illumination. The only difference I have read is the new PST have a LOT more lock-tight on the threads so disassembling the PST really is the hardest part of this endeavor.
