good news.
I've just heard from Lunts European distributer and they have offered to send me a replacement ITF, and have provided simple instructions on how to replace the glass. Excellent service.

This is the cracked glass. Not heard from Lunt yet, so not sure exactly what the glass is. I'd like Lunt to verify that it is not an ITF. I'll phone them later.

B1200 question.
can anyone tell me what the first piece of glass inside the drawtube is for. It has a green tinge to it. I have a crack across mine. It does not seem to effect the image quality and I have not noticed any difference visually or when imaging. Is my B1200 still safe for visual observing. Incidentally,...

I decided to set up the 120mm XLT Lunt60T Mod on Saturday, ready for a blazing Sundays broadcasting on NSN, so after re-collimating it, i managed a quick capture between clouds. This was taken with the Modded 120mm Luntmonster, a DMK31 and x1.6 barlow. The shape of the active region intrigued me so ...

no problem getting a B1200 on its own in the UK. I just got one from http://www.iankingimaging.com/ He doesn't list them, but a simple phone call and tell him what you need will solve the problem. Not cheap though. Incidentally, I use a B1200 with my pst mods and have not noticed any problem. I have...

You didn't say which scope Derek, but an Skywatcher autofocus can be fitted to most crayford type focusers. If you are stateside, then the Orion Accufocus is the same. I fitted a Skywatcher Autofocus motor to my Lunt feathertouch with a belt drive. Works fantastic and the adjustment is very fine and...

If you're trying to find the -200mm position for the etalon John, measure 200mm forward from the focal point to the front of the rubber tuning ring. If you already have the measurements then I guess from the centre of the OG is best.

Re: Question about PST mod: keeping collimator lens at -200mm during focussing
Ken is right Lou. Your method of finding the initial focus point and then finding the position of the collimating lens is ok. However, when the etalon is inserted into position, the focus point then moves and becomes 200mm from the rear lens of the etalon. The rear etalon sits between the black arro...

Re: Question about PST mod: keeping collimator lens at -200mm during focussing
I think your first step should be to measure the length of the drawtube. Based on your measurements, the front lens needs to be 5.5cm into the drawtube to to be at -200mm when at focus. If your drawtube is very much longer then the lens may be too far from the etalon to operate efficiently and may e...

That was a very interesting video. So the cleaning has to meticulous, can you imagine how you are going to do that with those tiny spacers. hmy: You can barely see them, let alone clean them.
John; I wouldn't worry about how the tuning is done, it will do your head in.

Hi John, all the info i have seen states that the lunt has a 60mm singlet chromatic objective. I don't know if your 100mm singlet will work as a replacement for the 60mm. You would obviously have to find out the focal ratio of the lens and mount it at its optimal position relative to the etalon. If ...
