Re: Ca K image taken on August 2 with the 300 mm solar telescope - best resolution yet

The best I've seen so far through amateur equipment, great detail indeed. With my 130 mm solar newtonian CaH/CaK is possibile as there is enough light, I am now considering an upgrade to a 200 mm one (300 would be too much for me).

That Alluxa filter is miraculous...

Great disc. Gradient option in GIMP may help you to get an even disc in postprocessing, I tried it and sometimes works.

I understand, Mark. The owner of Tecnosky is a good friend of mine, I'll ask him if can provide further details on that scope.

Re: Calcium Sunday 2nd August

Hi Raf, have you had any experience with the Technosky 152/8 fpl-51 triplet? there's one here in the UK going at a good price... yes but not for solar, I looked into the scope of a friend of mine, cant' tell nothing about H-alpha or calcium. However I wouldn't consider it unless you can look at the...

Re: Calcium Sunday 2nd August

Cristal clear images, Mark, with superb definition. Long focus achromats have very low spherochromatism and are perfect for CaK. More difficult is to find suitable seeing conditions for those wavelength, however the weather is quite variable in the UK so you can have more chances than here, where ba...

New spots on the NE limb

This early morning, while outside temperature was still tolerable (05:00 UT) I made my usual WL drawing and saw a facular area close to the NE limb but no spots. Returned to the scope @11:00 UT three spots were clearly visible in the same area which appear to be actively developing, so I updated the...

Prom and ARs of July 31

It's terribly hot today, I had the intention to produce an animation of that interesting pillar in the SE but I failed to resist outside for more than those few minutes needed to take the below images. Interesting Sun, further details are emerging from the NE limb.

Re: Almost full disk WL July 28, 2020

Nice shots, very crisp. To bring the solar disc within the small sensor of my CCD I make use of that small reducers that have the same thread of eyepiece filters, just put them on the camera nose. They came basically in two versions both labeled as 0.5x, this the weaker red1.jpg and this is the stro...

AR12767 & Ca-K disc

Seeing is bad this week that started with an African anticyclone that engulfed most of the Italian peninsula. I am forced to image within two hours from sunrise, after that it's too hot. My Lunt PT is starting to lose pressure, now it's my turn to change the o-rings (just ordered from Bresser). Howe...
