Thanks Ken,
I downloaded BASS. However I am working on a Mac, and the software cannot seem to run on my windows emulator. I will need to find a solution to have a windows partition on my mac to make it run.

Re: 3D printing and SHG

Hello all, Here is an update on my 3D printed spectroscope. It works very well! I just had to cover it with alluminium tape to prevent light leaking through the plastic body. Raw spectrum of a fluorescent lamp: you can see I have a "smile" problem, I don't really know how to avoid it. IMG_...

3D printing and SHG

Hi all, Quick question for SHG makers here: have you ever considered using a 3D printer for making a SHG? 3D printing would allow easy and rapid design of small parts such as holders for grating, slit or lenses. The material is also pretty strong and very light. For exemple I am currently making a s...

Hi all,
I made a short timelapse of the loop prominence emerging from the sunspot AR2673 soon after the flare, enjoy :)
It may take some time to load.

Re: Building a basic spectroheliograph

So, I played a while with the SHG spreadsheet and I found out a good design for my new SHG. It will have a classical design using camera lens, greatly inspired by Chagnard's work. The different parts are: Telescope: a 50mm f/10 lens, fited in a PVC tube Slit: the one from Surplus Shed Collimator: 20...

Thanks both of you.
The proms are clearer because on the first image I pushed the gain too high resulting in a lot of noise, so I was not able to use the wavelets in R6.
This time I put the gain at 10.

Hi all, Last March I made a solargraph i.e a very long exposure of the sun using a pinhole camera. I made my camera from a beer-can loaded with photographic paper, strapped it to an electric pylon facing south and let it there for about 3 months. You can see the path of the Sun getting higher and hi...
