yes ---3 suns in DS mode the REAL sun is the middle one --but when i change between cameras --sometimes the wrong one is centered....

terry --thanks -- iknow i have alot to learn i was pressed for time and took the shot with the 174 last .....trying to figure out the relationship between MP and pixel size for best picture .........i spent too much time with the 174 trying to focus on the WRONG sun......duh .....

wow --thanks to all -- yes it's a ZWO 178 Colour --not cooled. i have been playing with 174 CC 224C and 178C with and w/o 2x and 3x barlow -- the clouds came in early so i only had about 35 minutes -- has anybody tried the 183CC or any other suggestions...... thanks for all the Great support !! Bob

some ( quite a few) of the ZWO and Grasshopper 3 cameras use the same chip ( 174, 178 ***)
my question is - the price seems to be approx: 2:1 give or take a few $ why ???

the Canon was about $1100.00 it's one of the "L" series ( canon's pro Line).
i use it for daytime photos all the time, just happens to be a good lense for sunset's .......

where in SC ? i use a canon 400mm lens on a MK5d-II no filters fo the total part --- in fact, i can shoot straight into Sun with no filters --my 70-200 and 100-400mm lenses have no reflections.

well -- i'll need to do the math. i have a lunt 60PT DS a 3x BIG Barlow ( Televue) i think it will do full disk w/o barlow and closeup with Barlow.....like i said, have not had time to do math for the 174/120/1600. all i have now is a DSI-III and a Celestron Neximage 5MP ( not near the frame rate ne...

1) is the sun sharp with Eyepiece ? 2) is neximage sharp on planet/moon with other scope ? i have a lunt 60 and the neximage 5MP is not a great camera for the sun. seems to be slow on fps and not enough dynamic range. jupiter was pretty good -- see my post on Lunt 60 DS need help bob brannon good lu...

tried again today Single stack - tune/focus --CAREFULLY added DS --
i also found if i rotate the DS unit -- the smeared image rotates....
these were taken with a Meade DSI III mono....

i thought of Ghost --- when i tilt, the reflex images move across the field of view. i turn the wheel about 3 or 4 1/8 turns ( or so) and the ghost are gone i did try on of the others, but i had to slew the scope quite a bit from SS mode---just checking the dumb stuff my operation the last few tries...

when i use my lunt 60 PT SS the sun "POPS" with detail ! when i DS with the 50mm TT i see very little detail (?) the image is very dim -- its very hard to focus -- only 3/4 of the full disk is in-focus around the edge. i try to use a Celstron Neximage 5MP camera -- problem is exposure time...
