Re: FireCapture: How to get 12bit video.

Mark, is there a way you can compare the both files on the image data? I have no experience with PGR cams but it looks odd to me that there are differences. I know from Torsten he just writes down the values coming from the cams in the SER files and that should be no different to for Fits. I could d...

Re: I need a laptop that matches the speed of ZWO ASI174

Hi, cheapest option probably is to build an SSSM. Then there is no need anymore to transfer huge amounts of data from the buffer to the disc (since only good seeing moments are saved) That with a good USB3 connection and enough memory (I use 16Gb) should do. Other option, but the laptop needs to sup...

Re: Calculating Field Rotation With an Alt Az Mount For Solar Timelapses

Mark, have you tried this in AS!3? Might solve your problem. No idea if it works. (but seems you need to calculate de rotatiion degree first, think I have this somewhere but need to dig very deep ....)

Is is under advanced -> experimental features

Re: First solar shot ASI290

Not only FOV that counts in this case Mark. The IMX has 3.75µm pixels. So with the TAl to get same resolution you would need 1.3x barlow limiting the FOV again. (For me that 290 and the TAL at f/10 looks a good choice. (Maybe undersampled in blue, but red should be ok fro Nyquist. Altthough tendency ...

You can tell AS!3 that the 16bit is really something else via this choice

Re: FireCapture: How to get 12bit video.

have file type set to fits. Mark, won't that slow down capturing too much?? Then you end up with a huge amount of files for 1 capture (lots of overhead). I would just leave the file type SER and recording 16 bit. What I don't know is how PG passes the information thru the SDK. If they pass the 12 b...

Thanks for the comments everyone. @Brian: hope you get good results with the plugin. After using it "for real" a few times now, I think there are a few things that could it make easier to use, so I am planning to do some work on it, mostly on the plugin. That will take some time (will need a new "he...

Re: Grasshopper 3 / Flycapture / Firecapture woes

Alexandra, think you should handle this with ClearView. Normally (think it is an EEC regulation? not sure) it is the one who sold the goods , is the point of contact, not the producer. (At least this is for warranty, but these cam's seems to be covere by some warranty replacement/repair fee) That co...

Hi Raf, Found it now, but there is fairly amount of glue used to seal the ring. Was referring to this one if you want to take out the telecentric. newer versions DayStar protected some removal. Re: AR12736, Lunt BF1200ST and a BF question

The BF can be removed from the bottom of the device by unscrewing the retaining ring, no need to open the Quark. Noop, unfortunately not true anymore. That retaining ring is fixed with an ugly screw. You can unscrew the 2'" and 1.25" pieces, but not the the part that holds the telecentric and bf. (...

Re: AR12736, Lunt BF1200ST and a BF question

I removed the BF of my Quark (very simple, indeed)
Probably an older Quark? There is a security screw that does not allow the black body and telecentric to be removed. That screw should be unscrewed first, but it has that security torx(?) model. Tried a few but could not get anything to fit.

Welcome to the club of broken, useless parts; still have a pile of those laying around, but strange enough if I throw something away (or sell, which usually does not work), I need it the following week. If you replaced the builtin focuser with an FT alternative, that moves the mirrror for focusing. ...

Hi Alexandra, dust bunnies on ZWO's can be very persistent... Hi,

these are GOOD!
In #1 to #4 it did not give much benefit going from 4.8 to 6m FL, but that granulation shot is superb!
Also like the K-Line shot.

That's indeed a value for money scope. Think paid mine around €370, but now I have seen prices around €335) The focuser was also around that price. Haven't tested it in blue yet, so don't know for Cak. Think Marty used to have the same scope (but the Celestron branded version) before he switched to ...

It was a Skywatcher 120 f8.3 achromat. With the focuser replaced with a Baader Diamomd Steeltrack (and selfconstructed motor)
Used AstroGenika and the autofocus module. Worked liked a charm with this focuser/motor.
