Re: CME hit!
Hi Stu Google dont seem to have completed their work on the IOT chart and still appears to be a basic demo with limited input ie date from/to, number of points and Thingspeak channel number to read from. It is a better chart than Thingspeak which is fairly basic in resolution. My plan was to have a ...

New product for magnetometer?
Hi all just found this on the site that now sells the FGM 3 sensors. Could be useful for the sport especially if you can get an output for graph use?
Not sure about power supply stability etc. Any thoughts?

Re: Arduino Magnetometer Testing
Hi all the magnetometer readings can be seen live on the following link,
https://sites.google.com/site/iotchartsdemo/thingspeak
Just type in the channel box 438056 and change the number of points to 2000.
Last night's big hit can be seen.

Re: Arduino Magnetometer Testing
An excellent match, Carl. You can now very easily get Excel to remove the transient spikes and you've got yourself a nice stable magnetometer. Given the low cost, maybe you could run three at once for the X,Y & Z components ;). Stu. Thanks Stu, yes that is certainly doable. Baby steps learning ...

Hi Stu, all, Yes Stu it appears to be. Heres the story so far. The Aurdrino board is located beside a kitchen window which is opened and closed on a regular basis due to a cat! Re: Arduino Magnetometer Testing
Nice one, Carl. Are you also able to capture/export the data as a CSV file (frequency and time)? Stu Hi Stuart that can be done. This chart is a basic one provided by the Ardruino software instead of pumping out a list of numbers. There are various ways of doing a CSV file live which I will look at...

IMG_20180215_175322.jpg Hi all here's the first hit of the CME on the Ardruino board. Findings so far are it dosnt appear to react to the house temperature which is good. Interesting and where can I buy those FGM Magnetometers ? In order to understand it a bit more ...this board can measure the frequency of a pwm signal from a sensor ie the FGM 3 with a program literally a few lines long called "freqcount". So you do not read an analog Signal but a frequen...

Thanks Alexandra here is a plot for the same period you posted. I think the lack of N S data to add makes a difference. It does pick up the larger changes however. Bit more playing and tweaking required. Working in Excel is a steep learning curve.

Hi all can't seem to get PMs sent so just going to ask here
Going to upgrade to a thermostat controlled setup and going with a microclimate eco lite which seems very flexible. I'm wondering what rating of heat mat to go for and any other tips.
Thanks again Carl

Thanks Paul yes there is a sound board available I believe but will do more digging.
Stu yes seen that I assumed the temp probs were with the sensors being indoors. There are some interesting pages ref Raspberry pi bat detector but how accurate it would be is another matter.

Re: Magnetometer drift?
Thanks I hope so. I should give a basic run down of my setup.
The sensor is about a meter underground fed with outside phone cable which is buried a few inches for most of the run.
The bat detector is sitting on the desk perhaps it needs to be totally insulated? Any ideas welcomed.
