In Autostakkert, did you select Planet or Surface?

Re: Yay! Finally something to image!

Great job!
I'm envious. I'm stuck with the haze. Looking through the eyepiece makes me think that my optics are filthy. I can't even see any prominences. It's tough even to tune the etalon, but at least I got something of a look today.
Nice to see what it looks like with better seeing

Re: Solar Scope Advice

Nice job on the processing Longtech!
I have a Lunt LS80THa too, so I know what you're starting with. I have been fairly happy with my images, but they're not nearly as good as yours. Impressive!

Re: What!!!

I hear ya. I live in northern Michigan, where it's overcast about 90% of the time from Sept to May. I have had exactly one decent look at the Sun since October. It sucks when you get a new toy and can't go out and play with it. Hang in there and keep checking in here for those gorgeous shots from pe...

Nice FD Eric

Finally got some (somewhat) blue sky here.
That big delta shaped prom is still there and the ones on the other side have morphed into something that reminds me of deer antlers

Re: ZWO difference between mc and mm

It depends a good bit on what you want to do. For Hydrogen alpha capture, mono is absolutely the way to go. A color camera has a grid of red, green and blue color filters in front of the imaging chip, one color filter for each pixel on the camera's image sensor. In any given square of four pixels, t...

Re: Would someone be kind enough to verify my figures in case i missed something please ;-)

I think you'll find a better image with the refractor, despite the theoretical improvement from additional aperture for the SCT (or is that not the question?)
Please let us know how it turns out

Re: Solar Today 20171122 Ha

Nice shot That's huge! What explains a contiguous structure like this over such vast distances? I guess what seems odd is that the scale of features that we normally see on the Sun's surface are much smaller than this and to some degree the scale of the surface features should reflect underlying str...

Re: PST40 vs Lunt50

I had a lot of uncertainty as well when I was considering a telescope - especially one so specialized. I eventually went with the Lunt based on the idea that, despite its (considerably) higher price, I felt that it would hold resale value better in the case that 1) solar astronomy turned out not to ...
