Hopefully someone can help. I have managed to get the above unit fitted onto my scope and working, I closed thingsdown as it started to rain and reset up once the skies cleared a bit but the focuser was now not talking to the software, I had to go into the calibration section and reselect the type o...

Grasshopper IMX174

Hi I am looking, again, for help and advice. I have a Grasshopper IMX174 camera that I use on my Lunt Chromosphere fitted onto my Explore Scientific ed apo 80. I get horrendous Newton’s rings and have tried moving the camera around to see if I can square it up to the sensor but no luck yet. Is there...

Re: Can't get focus!!

I have the same scope but I use a zwo asi 120 mm that I screw directly onto the blocking filter after taking off the adapter, you then need to draw the blocking filter out by about 6-8 mm or 1/4 inch in old money. Which capture software do you use?

At the well again

Hi all, I have been trying to get my Primaluce Sesto Senso working but as yet nothing. I have downloaded Ascom 6.4 as well as the Sesto driver. I loaded the software from the usb stick that came with the focuser and followed the instructions on the Primaluce manual. When I open Device Manager and cl...

Times they are a changing

Hi, today, March 25, I received my new scope an Explore Scientific ar127 and a Primaluce Sesto Senso focuser. Just got to put everything together and set up the focuser both on the scope and the laptop. So you can blame me for any cloudy days and nights. Sorry.

How to get clouds rolling in.

Hello, yesterday I went to the Practical Astronomy Show in Kettering. I must say it was really enjoyable there was/were plenty of folk there. Also, There were plenty of vendors and, dare I say it, I bought an Explore Scientific AR 127 scope along with a Sesto Senso electronic focuser. So all the bad...

Why stack ????

Hi, I was at an outreach event at the Space center in Leicester at the weekend and whilst having a conversation with someone, they asked ‘why stack pics of the Sun?’ I tried to answer but found my answer a little light on detail. Anyone got any answers so I can pinch them and use them in the future?

Re: Fire capture woes

Mark, the icon that kept sending me in circles was the Java message. But as I said, without knowing how it happened I have managed to download the program. The only thing that is a bit concerning is that when I double click on the FC icon, for a brief second there is a black box with code that appea...

Re: Fire capture woes

Hi thanks for the replies. When I click on the icon on my desktop I get a message saying Java not on this machine, every time I click on the icon I get the same message, I’m just going around in circles with that. I have just had a message from Torsten that includes a video. I will keep on trying bu...

Fire capture woes

Hello I have been trying to download the above software for four days, even contacted Torsten, but as yet I still cannot download it. I manage to get the compressed file, where Torsten says I should click on the Firecapture.exe file but that is not there on the page. I keep getting a message saying ...

What a carry on.

Hi all thanks for the replies to my earlier post. Today the skies are a milky blue so I thought I would set up hoping to get some sort of view of the Sun but I could not get any definition of either the surface or, if there were any, prominences. Just to go back to my earlier post about which scope,...

Which new scope

Hi everyone I have just gotten over the shock of having to replace my boiler, next month it is being fitted. I am considering buying a new scope but not the one I was considering before the boiler issue. Anyway I think I have whittled it down to three but would really appreciate your comments. I cur...

Re: Batteries, laptops and USB ports.

Hi Alexandra thanks for the reply. I feel sure I hit the ‘submit’ button, this happens quite often just lately. Anyway; My Quark needs power and has a usb connector that goes into my battery. The focuser needs power, which is a usb connector and power, which is a cigarette type connector. So I would...

Hi I finally get my scope back today. I am going to fit an electronic focuser but could not remove the large focusing wheel, I managed to remove the micro wheel but not the larger one. I thought the grub screw was rounded but the shop, Telescope House, collected it to see what was happening. At the ...

Hi all thanks for your comments. Alex, no I have not done much if any since, mainly due to cloud cover. Re: Smooth focus !!!

Hi Pedro thanks for the pics. I cannot put anything below the focuser ( see your last pic) as there is no room due to the longer vixen bar, a longer bar helps achieve balance. It looks like either a JMI or an Orion. The problem is I am not dexterous, I struggle making a mess, so the unit has to fit ...

Re: Smooth focus !!!

Thanks for that MapleRidge it looks as if that is the one, the details at the end of the page says it is for, as well as other scopes, for an Es ed80. Would it fit on the right hand ( my pic above) side of my scope where the fine focuser is?
Cheers
