Re: Is the Sun unusual?

Hi

I think our arrangement of planets with the bigger ones away from the star is unusual. And it needs to be stable over a long period for life to evolve.

Re: Full discs and nice prom 25-06-20

Hi

The arch prom was nice today when I got to see it.

Very dark under the arch and fine detail above.

I could see one feed on the left for me, and a main one on the right with a little jet inside it.

Cheers. Andrew.

Re: Sunspot AR2765 with the C9.25 07-06-2020

Hi I have just been playing with the 2x ES Focal Extender on my M180 F10 Rumak-Maksutov. Do you place the ES before a diagonal and do need extension tubes on the front to reach focus or control magnification? I used two 30mm on the ES and a 30 and 15 on the digonal nose. I do have a short travel foc...

Re: 23/06/2020 Visual Report

Hi Montana, I was struggling with the Mak180 PST Mod 2 earlier today. It does not like haze and has a few PST reflections. RodAstro made me a tipper for the Omega Bobs 1.5A I am using as a comb blocker and a few reflections, worse then when it was in a plastic Moon filter miss-threaded into a BlueLi...

Re: Santel M180 F10 Rumak Maksutov first light

Hi Had a play with this today. Thinking about the baffling. One thing I realised is that the Stage 2 Mod was developed on the Vixen VCM110 and the Collimating lens had to be moved right in as far as it would go for focus reach. However in the Mak its 2cm inside the 200mm distance so Collimating 22mm...

Re: 22/06/2020 Visual Report

Hi Alfred, I would have used a 25mm Clave' Plossl. Its a cheap and cheerfull telescope and will not take more magnification. I used it to develop my PST Stage 2 Mod on. And it has full customised baffles on the secondary and top of the promary baffle and has a dark background. Its nice and portable....

Re: Looking for WL tips

Hi You want to start with the least blocking filter at the front and gradually decease the light passing to spread the heat load across the filters. Dichoric filters are the best at the front as they reflect the unwanted light rather than absorb it. So a dichoric UV/IR filter. A dichoric narrower ba...

Re: WOW did anybody else see that?

Hi When I was going through my Combo Chromosphere set up settings on the dial yesterday I saw a jet emanating from near the active region just on one of my settings. It looked like it was coming out at 45deg so may have been over the limb at the time. If it was a temporary feature it would explain w...

Hi

Could this

09.55 Long Bright jet pointing down 45deg spray end. Only time I saw this!

Could this have been a prominence or flare from the active region which erupted today?

Cheers. Andrew.

Hi I will have a look. Today I spent 4 hours going through every setting on the Combo Chromosphere option. Took 4 hours. Recording what I could see at each setting. Hi Wow. Which one of my items are you referring to? The one spike I then noticed the dog leg above was not repeatable, just a lucky tune I suppose.
