Position versus phase encoded information in optics

Hi

After the collimating lens in a PST the information in the beam is phase encoded I believe.

For a telecentric barlow is the beam between the two elements phase encoded
or
is the beam after the telecentric phase encoded, as the re-focusser lens can be set back?

Cheers. Andrew.

Re: One day evolution 6 -7 March

Hi

I was wondering what the bandwidth of the etalon used to make the images is so I can compare my PST setup against it to assess what the final bandwidth of my stacked filters might be.

Thanks. Andrew.

Re: One day evolution 6 -7 March

Hi

You got a hint of the horizontal features connecting the inner two proms.

What bandwidth is your etalon?

Re: Sweet spot, banding and tilted etalons ...where are the limits ?

Hi What does the size of a sweet spot say about the configuration? I have a Rumak180mm F10, perfect flat field 'orthoscopic', with 1.5A Omega seconds as a Blocker and a Meade PST which looks 0.75A. Tuning the PST I get a sweet spot about 1/4 diameter of the field and then it goes into a doughnut. As...

Re: blocking filter chit chat chop chop - lets cut it out.

Hi

I am using a 1.5A Omega Bob filter from one of his seconds pairs as a blocker with a PST which looks 0.75A from Daystars images. Will that be doing similar to what you are trying, and what will the resulting bandwidth be?

35nm Baader and Beloptic KG3 up front.

Hi James

I have been observing blind up to now. More in development mode.

Knowing what I should be seeing may help picking out faint details I think.

Re: Cunning Plan 2021/02/26

Saturday. We had a clear afternoon but seeing not very good. The basic idea seems to work but the off-axis part is quiet tall and had to go after the TE. So the prominences do not come to a visible focus. I also had the Mak180 out with the binoviewers on a Ioptron Mini-tower which makes using the bi...

Re: Recentering sweet spot possible?

Hi I used a tilter in front of my PST Etalon and used auto-collimation from the front on the bare etalon on a refractor to set the etalon at 90 degrees to the optical axis. I punched a hole near the edge of an old greetings card and drew a 1/4" black cross from it. Stand 20' infront of the telescope...

Hi Brian,

Well I am pretty much seeing what you imaged. More wispy stuff in the images. The upside down triangle looked very similar.

As I was in testing mode I missed the smaller hedge as did not do a detailed scan round the edge.
