Re: 66245 Heatsink mirror mount for 81045

I just got the reply back from lunt, Faye says the ls152 calcium unit incorporates a prism.

So there is that. I still have the two prisms from my CaK pst's if anybody wants them.

Re: PST stage 4. The X-truder

I do not know why I did not do this on day 1 :)

Cage up to the entire rear, and also cage up the objective side a bit.

This will be Rock solid now and will never break again.

Re: PST stage 4. The X-truder

unfortunately i just put a nice stress fracture on the plastic support joint , so now i have to create a new one out of metal. I was switching out the UV mirrors with the standard mirrors to get a comparison image when I heard a loud crack. Luckily nothing fell. should be a simple push/pull brace fi...

Re: PST stage 4. The X-truder

having a little difficulty with the gold tube attached to my focuser, it is just slightly too long. It currently produces too little infocus for where I want it, so I removed it. Going to be using the bare objective now so that I have total control over the final focus plane.. I did pull an image ou...

Re: PST stage 4. The X-truder

So here is how i make sure everything is lined up straight. Just use a bubble level and check each sectional piece before and after your alignment rings. Once all the extension tubes are level with each other, they are perfectly parallel to each other and optically straight with each lens and mirror...

Re: PST stage 4. The X-truder

I happened to find a couple parts lost in a drawer that let me connect the sct focuser! I still need the extra guide rings and downsizer rings to make things final. i now need a lighter focuser too, this williams optics thing is a pretty lead weight..... Built unnecessarily heavy for some reason! sc...

Re: PST stage 4. The X-truder

So i added the final turn to see where the refocused image plane will be. I need one or two more alignment rings, and two more stepping rings to make everything totally solid, square and stationary.. Soon, I can attach an SCT focuser and get my first image out of the double stacked pst cak modded go...

Re: The 81045 energy rejection mirror

Now that I am actively learning about these beam splitters and how valuable they are for professional solar optical systems, I have been looking for different solutions. Although the price is much greater, This one is very high quality and is specifically made for increased imaging performance. It w...

Re: KG3 IR Absorption vs IR Blocking filters? Same?

i am actually going to sell my b-ccd filter and give the money to Apollo now that i have the two 81045 mirrors. I have no need for any additional rejection now that I have a pair! He is the one that pointed me into the direction of newport optics. Would you like it for $80 with free shipping? It is ...

Re: 66245 Heatsink mirror mount for 81045

The ls152 also uses a heatsink mirror assembly for cak imaging. So i am on the right path in finding what it truly is.

It may just be the pentaprism out of a pst. It maybe a beamsplitter. There are no puctures of it!

Re: 66245 Heatsink mirror mount for 81045

I talked to chroma technolgy, they say this beam splitter should perform equally to the newport mirror and the specs can be customizable. So the list of options exists somewhere out there. The ls152 cak module uses some kind of mirror rejector assembly. It just needs to be discovered off the shelf. ...

Re: KG3 IR Absorption vs IR Blocking filters? Same?

It was just the bccd filter in the focuser. Directly on the hottest solar focus with zero barlow. 100% prime focus directly in the center of the b-ccd filter. I then inspected the filter for visual defects, and then used it to look at various objects in my area such as mail boxes, roofs, chimney and...

Re: 66245 Heatsink mirror mount for 81045

Now unfortunately for this part I had to cannibalize a vintage jason 315 telescope. It only takes about 2 minutes. There may be another part out there online somewhere to replace this step, but this is exactly how I did this version and this part fits perfectly where it needs to be and serves its ne...
