What is better, f5.9 or f6.9, to use with a Quark filter
I'm considering purchasing an 81mm aperture refractor telescope to use with my Quark Chromosphere filter in order to achieve a wider field of view compared to my Sky Watcher Evostar 150. I have two telescopes in mind: the William Optics Zenithstar 81 (doublet) with an f6.9 focal ratio, and the Willi...

Dealuminated newton for WL
Hello everyone! I want to build a Newton telescope with a dealuminated primary mirror to photograph the sun in white light, I live in Argentina and due to the scarcity of materials and specialized skilled labor to build a mirror, it seemed like a good idea to buy a GSO 10" f4 Newton telescope (...

Re: Baader ND3.8 1m roll expression of interest - Update
Dear Shadowchaser, I would presume that it would be on sale for the general public, you would need to buy direct from Baader. We got this expression of interest going to show Baader that if they produced a run they would have enough people who would buy it. It was an incentive. So order through you...

Re: Baader ND3.8 1m roll expression of interest - Update
According to the statement of Mr Baader above he quotes "We will definitely not forget this inquiry and hope by end of this year latest, to being able to serve you and the group" so I don't think we are are at the end of this year yet :) Alexandra Hi Alexandra! I am interested in one of t...

Re: Baader ASTF Astrosolar Filter OD 5.0 for imaging with Celestron 9.25 in WL?
A few years ago, Baader stopped making Astrosolar ND 3.8 in size larger than A4. I am afraid they are not planning any new batch, unless a huge number of solar observers ask for it ;-) I would try the A4 size on the C 9.25. Only a small part of the aperture would be limited to about 200 mm. So, you...

Baader ASTF Astrosolar Filter OD 5.0 for imaging with Celestron 9.25 in WL?
Hi everyone!! I currently have a Sky Watcher Maksutov 180 with a Baader Astrosolar OD3.8 filter and it gives me very good results for WL photography. I wanted to try the same thing with a Celestron Edge 9.25 to have more resolution, but the OD3.8 filters in the Edge 9.25 size have not been in stock ...

Re: DayStar Chromosphere completely off band
The other possibility is you are too hot, this is an easy test. Set the Quark up cold on the scope. Find the sun and watch on the computer screen as it heats up. As it heats up do you see the Sun come on band then go off band again? Do you have the dial setting correct first? test all the dial sett...

Re: DayStar Chromosphere completely off band
Yes, the filter is hot, even the light turns green after a few minutes as if it works normally.marktownley wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 10:58 pm Sorry to hear this
Can you feel the filter heating up when you apply power?

DayStar Chromosphere completely off band
Hello! I have a problem with my DayStar Quark Chromosphere filter, I bought it a year ago and I used it a few times, generally, due to the seeing that I have over my location, I use my Coronado Solarmax II 90 much more. A few days ago I wanted to use it and the filter is completely off band, no matt...

Re: Tips on buying a 150mm telescope for solar photography
If you have a more than okay Quark - the single stack Lunt will not show more details - but you can image the full disk. Side by side my 0.6 A Quantum and a Bresser 127mm f9 doblet was a little bit better on surface details and stunningly better on prominences... A very good Quark at the same meeti...

Re: Tips on buying a 150mm telescope for solar photography
I would do as said by Mark and Alexandra. If you are happy with the Quark, go for the 150 mm f/8 and possibly a Baader ERF. Thanks Christian for your answer!! It seems like a good option to go for a doublet and use my Quark. One more question... What is the difference in image quality between a Lun...

Tips on buying a 150mm telescope for solar photography
Hello everyone! I want to buy a 150 mm aperture solar telescope, to photograph prominences and active regions in more detail. Which camera to choose for full disk imaging
Hello everyone!
I have a Coronado SolarMax II 90mm BF15 telescope and a ZWO 290 MM camera that works fine for details, but now I want to take pictures of the full disk. Which camera do you recommend me?
Thank you!

Problem with reflections when I use barlow lens with my Coronado 90
Hi everyone!!! I recently changed my Coronado Solarmax II 60mm for a Coronado Solarmax II 90mm BF15. When I capture images with my ASI 290MM placed directly on the diagonal, I have no problems. But when I use a barlow lens or an extender, a reflection appears and I cannot remove it. What can cause t...
