Lunt CaK b1800 (LS18CaKMDd2)

Selling my Lunt CaK diagonal (18mm blocking filter).

There's a couple of chips on the barrel (due to normal usage), optically it's in perfect condition. I'm located in Belgium, will ship in Europe.

Excellent work as per usual, Alexandros.

Have done a few visual observations of Mars over the last few weeks (getting close to opposition, so ideal time). Definitely a very fun target when the conditions are right.

2022-11-12-Full disk (HA/CaK)

It's been a while since my last imaging session, but I managed to get one in again today. With the sun not getting any higher than 21° this time of year, the conditions are obviously not ideal, but good enough to get some decent disks regardless. Setup: HA: Lunt LS60 + DS60, ASI178 CaK: 100ED @ 60mm...

On the adaptive optics topic; technically speaking the technology is already available to amateurs. But the pricepoint is still as such that it'll be reserved for the lucky few (read: those with very big bank accounts :) ).

I kind of like it as well ;)

Out of curiousity, what's the reasoning behind using the OIII filter? The shorter wavelengths will be a lot more sensitive to conditions being right (not like that's an issue by the looks of it, but still), so I'm guessing there must be a specific purpose?

This is all very interesting.

I always assumed that when people said that can't see anything in CaK; they meant that detail on the disk isn't there, but the disk itself is perfectly visible (similar to my situation in other words).
