Re: Couple images from today's partial annular eclipse from Texas

Very, very nice images. I do not understand the last one: can you please elaborate a bit ? Is that the closeup shot ? Franco It is a photo of the ground behind my chair, with the light passing through a tree creating pinhole camera mages of the crescent shape of the sun mid-eclipse. So just a photo...

Couple images from today's partial annular eclipse from Texas

Would have to have driven about 4ish hours West in order to get the full eclipse, and I just didn't have that in me. So I settled for a partial eclipse instead. Was my first time imaging here in Texas after moving from Hawaii. The skies.....are not the same here, lol. Going to miss that lovely pacif...

White light sun spot groups at sunset, with bonus green flash

So, been on the road away from home for the last couple months and so haven't been able to do any imaging of any kind at all. But I'm finally home at last. Didn't get the h-alpha setup out, but did take the zoom lens to the beach to catch sunset, where I was able to sort of catch 3 sunspot groups an...

I see the same thing in other areas of astronomy, like planetary. Seems like if one wants the most detail, you now have to rent time on meter sized telescopes in Chilean deserts, vs using home equipment. But, all of that only matter if one's goal is to 'beat other people', so to speak. Rather, if on...

Got set up and saw the clouds rolling in quick, didn't even really have the time to nail focus, and just barely got what I got, lol. Seeing started off pretty decent, then declined a bit towards the end, but there was still some decent detail and some decent movement visible in the filaments, and a touch in the proms when detail was discernible in them. lunt100+asi294mm+4x+ mild ROI, 30 second recordings (about 400 frames each at...

Good shots, I've really like the camera so far, its quite versatile with the larger sensor, ability to use really small pixels, or to use a small ROI with larger pixels and a telecentric and still get pretty decent frame rates.

Great images, and love the animation! I think that is the longest spanning time lapse I've seen on here yet. Amazing to me how some proms like this one seem to move at a snail's pace and benefit from many hours of capture, and then others move at warp speed even over just 15-20 minutes. Well done!
