Re: Can't get focus!!

Thank you for the replies. I will try and take the BF out and see if I can achieve focus.

Will let you know my results once the clouds have cleared!

Can't get focus!!

Currently using a Lunt50 and a ASI178MM-C camera for some solar work but I can't get the [bad-word] thing into focus! I tried with the eyepiece holder and also screwing the camera directly to the diagonal but still no luck.

Is there anything I can try??

Stefan,
I use an ASI 174mmfor fl above 1000mm and now testing an ASI 1600mm for shorter fl.
Let me know how the 1600MM goes, would like to see how it performs!

What camera do you use?

Just wanted to ask what camera everyone is using for their solar work?

I am still using the Flea (see in signature) and it's such a great little performer with its decent resolution and high framerate!

Re: Possible damage on BF600?

I received my replacement glass in the mail, it took months for Lunt to send it.

Just need to swap it over.

Flea3 FL3-U3-13Y3M-C Mono Camera

This is a great little monochrome camera that gets 150FPS over USB 3.0. Compact size and also comes with the tripod mount. I have gone back to using a QHY5L-II as I can double up using it as a guider as well. Specs can be found here https://www.ptgrey.com/flea3-13-mp-m...ta-1300-camera I was able to...

Possible damage on BF600?

I inspected my blocking filter 600 the other night and found this disturbing blemish on the glass.

This doesn't look good. I contacted Lunt but still haven't heard back from them so I thought I would share the problem here.

Anyone seen this before?

That worked a treat!

I just need to buy a longer draw tube for it.

Is that something easy to get?

Re: Flea3 FL3-U3-13Y3M-C Mono Lunt Focus Issue

I don't know if this may help or not. The Lunt focus range is accomplished through two means: 1) the focuser, which has a fairly limited travel of about 30 mm and 2) the drawtube, which has a larger range of adjustment, about 75 mm. The two add to one another. If you have been using only the focuse...

Flea3 FL3-U3-13Y3M-C Mono Lunt Focus Issue

I am having trouble getting my Flea3 FL3-U3-13Y3M-C Mono to focus with my Lunt50. I have tried taking all adapters off and placing the camera directly on the BF but no luck (it's out of focus by a lot). Is there anyway to get this camera into focus as I would like to use the cameras high FPS and res...

Just reviving an old thread!

I think a company in the UK or US has made I think a cray style focuser for this Lunt?

Electronic focuser for Lunt

Has anyone been able to mod a Lunt 50 with a motorised focused with both the focuser and pressure tuner?

I know it might not be possible but wanted to ask if anyone has purchased something or made something from scratch.

Flea3 Camera, thoughts?

I recently traded my ZWO ASI224MC (as it wasn't getting any use) for a Flea3 1.3 MP Mono USB3 FL3-U3-13Y3M-C camera (as I am getting more serious with solar astrophotography). The ZWO was around $550ish AUD but looking at the prices of the Flea it looks to be over the $1,000 AUD mark so I think I go...

Thanks guys. Been a while since last post, a busy start off to 2017! Holidays, work, out most of the time and other hobbies...oh and Wisdom teeth too! I have been thinning out my equipment so I can purely focus on solar astrophotography/observing and keep my night time stuff to more visual and a bit...

Holy crap!

Now I am wondering if my Lunt is ok as well? How can you tell if it's a focusing issue or an issue with the actual scope itself though?!

Going more solar!

Hello everyone! Alright so I've been doing solar, night time astronomy and Astrophotography for a number of years. However recently it's just hard to find the time to get out to a dark field and to setup all the equipment unless you have a permanent observatory in the backyard (hoping for that when ...

Re: Laptop advice

I use a MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013 model with an i5, 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM for when I am out on the field. This is running BootCamp with Windows 10. For my main processing machine I am running Windows 10 with multiple SSD's, 16GB RAM and an i5 processor. If you are going for just the one laptop ge...
