17-1-2021 THE RETURNING AR LOOKS INTERESTING

The latest 0945z STEREO image shows well the returning AR.
The SDO image clearly shows the very large Sun-spot just on the limb, so whether there are more spots to follow - is not yet known.

CLEAR SKIES

Thanks Mark and I hope you have some images today. I wish you some clear skies today or as soon as possible Alexandra. Yes I had thought the same Dan as either/and #2794 or #2795, but should be issued new numbers as, when and if.... That AR is just coming into view at the limb at 2200z - so hopefull...

16-01-2021 STEREO + AR2796

Hello Sun-Gazers. This morning heralds a restart to AR's taking-over from the 12-day quiet spell. The South-central spots (started to appear yesterday) are now numbered AR2796 and as the SDO image shows at 10:55z today. The oncoming and large approaching AR to the S.E. Limb is expected to cross the ...

Re: January 15 2021 Observations. Spots!

Yes James, the SDO images clearly shows the layout of the twin-spot areas. Far too early to say whether these might grow larger and even flare, but certainly ends the +12-day blankness at last. Let's hope also the the oncoming S/E-AR at least will also blossom into something worthwhile... Thanks for...

15-1-2021 TWO SUNSPOTS - SOUTH CENTRAL at 2000hrs-Z

Thanks to a post-reply from Dan, SDO are now showing the two spots in the South-Central area, which itself has been am area of possible activity over the last few days, so at last it is awakening with the 'spots.' (No need to call the doctor this time)... Also looking at the S.E. to N.E. areas - not...

Re: 15-01-2021 EAST-AR HAS RECEDED, BUT S.E IS LOOKING GOOD

Thanks Mark, Dan, Eric, Alexandra and James. Indeed Dan at 2000z there are two clear spots in the South Central region as the attached SDO images show and who knows possibly some more from the AIA image. Also note that on the SE beyond the limb, as well on the East and North East areas some prominen...

15-01-2021 EAST-AR HAS RECEDED, BUT S.E IS LOOKING GOOD

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Eastern AR has diminished over the last 24-hours and is no longer active. But the large and approaching S.E. AR is looking promising for it's appearance on Sunday-onwards. Let's hope that a longer quiet-spell is not in the offing. At least the proms are still occurring fo...
