Mar, 21 2021 - Sun Ha AR2811

Hello, After the temperature drop, this morning the sky was really clear, however a strong breeze soon picked up. Quick imaging session of the newly formed AR showing at the East limb. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51058668033_f2862b0399_c.jpg ha__2021-03-21_T2 by Fabio Immovilli , su Flickr F...

H spectrum tube first light

Hello, Today I received the H spectrum tubes ordered on Ebay. Lacking the dedicated power supply, I am experimenting with some CCFL supply modules that I had laying around. CCFL_PS.PNG So far they seem to work fine: the discharge is stable and nothing is overheating (duty cycle 20 seconds ON, one mi...

Re: LUNT LS80MT with 100mm OTA Addon

Sorry to butt in,
I believe that such a generic name might be misleading ;)
In this context Solar Spectrum is a manufacturer's name

https://solarspectrumopticalfilters.com/

They produce solid etalons.

Clear skies

Hello, Finished processing another set of close-up in WL, obtained with a 5X barlow That was a bit of a stretch, since they didn't end up very crisp. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50973238567_92a0f8237e_c.jpg WL5x__2021-02-23_T6 by Fabio Immovilli , su Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/6553...

Feb, 23 2021 - Sun in WL and Ca-k (AR2804 & AR2805)

Hello, Given the newly formed sunspots, I scheduled a really quick imaging session (no time for H-alpha). Very calm atmosphere but transparency wasn't exceptional. During the last Zoom meeting I took notes ;) and this time I tried to apply some of the acquisition advices discussed. Ca-k Full disk ht...

Thanks to Alexandra and Brian for organizing this meeting.

Re: solarscout DS60 open heart operation

Hi Paul, I understand your frustration: the retention groove and the tapered end are bothersome. Excellent work in finding a viable solution with the materials at hand  In my case I fabricated an adapter using a 60mm 2" extension tube connected to the etalon by means of a "clamshell&...

Re: Advices needed on doublestacking Daystar Quark Chrom and PST Etalon

I can confirm,
I get the same artifacts with my Basler acA1920 (IMX 174 sensor): Newton Rings and horizontal striping in my case.
They both disappear with tilting.

Cheers
