A clear sunny day and Spaceweather saying no sunspots, but I had a go at a full disk at about 9° altitude today and was surprised by the active area. Yes, lots of activity then with webcam mods as well and stacking software. And the ban on CN was a big stimulus for Stephen Ramsden to start Solarchat which has been amazing.

Today was moderately clear weather, high pressure but showers and a gusty wind. The sun only getting to just over 20 degrees altitude. I tried a secondhand Celestron 9.25 with ND3.8 UV/IR and Baader continuum with TVx5 or Barlow x3. It lacked contrast and was very difficult to focus. Stacking software failed to latch onto the granulation cells. After reading about Solar Newtonians on the forum I got hold of a very cheap 200mm f1000...

Lovely sequence, it shows how interesting off-band images can be, especially animated. I have noticed that but not acted on it very often.

Lovely animation and great additions. I would add that ImPPG is very good for aligning frames too, anyhow all very interesting
