Re: De-pressure Lunt tuner for storage?

I have had my LS80 for years and almost never release pressure.Only if tuning position moves. My scope is right on band every time I look through it. After being flooded by Sandy ,my scope went unused for over 4 months and when I put it on the mount it was right on band. Why let in moist air on a re...

Re: Lunt 60 SS/DS or Lunt 80 SS/DS?

If I could only keep one DS60/60 or SS80 it would be the SS80... Aperture rules....The LS80 is an amazing scope with better contrast and largest sweet spot I have ever seen in any other single stacked scope . AS far as the DSII is concerned ,you are getting a full aperture 80mm double stack for very...

Re: Lunt 60 SS/DS or Lunt 80 SS/DS?

Having had the Lunt DS 60/60 first, I was use to the Jet black background it gives and how easy it is to tune and it also removes much easier. Also didn't like the mechanics of two pressure tuners. Lunts instructions say to tune the scope in single than add the DSII but I am shore no one does this ex...

Re: Lunt 60 SS/DS or Lunt 80 SS/DS?

Having both a Lunt DS 60/60 and a single 80 ...I like the added resolution the 80 gives me and tend to use it most of the time. I also had a DSII but it didn't work out for me so I sold it, with no regrets. I can also use the 60f to DS the 80 with excellent results.

Re: are you happy with DSII for your Lunt 80?

I couldn't get used to the glow and the mechanics of two pressure tuners .This may have something to do with with the fact that I also have a DS 60/60 Lunt that gives a jet black background with slightly less detail. I ended up selling the DSII. I don't miss it and find the 80 has good contrast even...

This is what I do for people having a hard time... When standing in front of scope look at eyepiece,you/they will see a red dot on eyepiece (the sun).Have them follow the dot with there eye as they move there head in, to look into eyepiece.

Follow the red dot.....

You should give yourself more options.
I have a tilt tuned 60mm Lunt with b1200 .I also have a larger 80 and smaller 35 Lunt, but think the 60 is the biggest bang for the buck. New a few years ago it was under $1200 us.

This hobby is addictive, spending a little more now will save regrets later. For the extra $100 , I think it is worth it. You will get it back when you sell it to upgrade later. This equipment holds value and resells well.

IMO going from a 40mm PST to a 50mm Lunt is not much of an upgrade.
Keep your PST for quick views and full disk and go for the Quark for high resolution.
