Re: June 15th's Sunspot AR2713 and large Prominences | HA & WL | Quark

What a beautifully presented set :bow and I really enjoy looking at the panorama shots, it looks like a tornado in the first shot or is that a tube of concentrated heavy rain? we had our first rain since April on Saturday which is extremely unusual in the UK (yes it had to be a Saturday, typical!) ....

Wow! some amazing close ups :bow

I notice the CaK active region has an unusual dark rim round it in all the shots, never seen that before, a very interesting feature!

Very impressive!! :bow

I don't understand why it would be so noisy though after stacking 200 frames, I only ever stack 50 and they seem OK?

These are lovely Eric, I sometimes see straight lines in CaK, I am never sure whether it is my eyes, I certainly see them in 1,3,5 pics but never in the same place. It is like one of those eye tests :)

Wonderful! I guess the big prom is from the polar crown filament passing over the edge. Nice little AR too :bow

Fantastic image, you can see how the plasma is like a thin veil and see through, what a delicate structure although it is probably the size of Earth.

Re: AR12712 in CaK and H-a with 280mm scope at excellent seeing.

Valery, I have never been to Mark's location but I guess being in a city the seeing could be worse than mine. I live on the top of a ridge above a river and was looking out over fields so my seeing was always very good. However the bulldozers have moved in in the last few weeks and soon I will be vi...

The choice is yours really, each have there own pluses and minuses, you have to make that decision for yourself. But what about a Solarscope, they are very good too and so is the Coronado version. Have you looked at them all?

Lovely proms! is this with the Quark? :bow

Very sad about the Walnut, did it ever produce much fruit? I adore pickled walnuts but can't eat them anymore as they are always made in barley malt vinegar and Walnut trees do not grow in the UK :( was it disease or old age do you think?
