Nice ones Walter! Stop complaining about clouds, we just got 5.5" of rain here in Phoenix today. In an hour. Those calcium active regions are stunningly beautiful. Now lets put some power on those babies!

Walter, nice project. I stripped my 6 inch mirror with undiluted pool acid - HCl. works great, but the fumes will knock you unconscious. ;) You also have to put a black board behind the mirror to boost the contrast. Philippe, very impressive setup. Your silver covered telescopes look like something they would be releasing into orbit aboard a space craft. You are obviously very into solar work, and your images prove you have years of hard earned experience.

Stunning images. Ive always felt a good shot is one that clearly resolves the spicules on the limb as a forest of spikes. You have done this very well.

I get bad newton rings on my Lunt LS100 ONLY when I tighten down the camera. If I leave it loose, NO rings at all. Maybe you need to loosen up a bit. ;)

Philip , this goes beyond just resolving granulation polygons. Here They look like bubbles with shaded edges. Now all you need to add is an advanced adaptive optics setup. ;)

Superb Walter. Why would just putting in an extension tube between filter elements improve the contrast? Im guessing maybe internal reflections?

Valery, top notch stuff. I always wonder when processing weather or not to make the flareing regions pure white to illustrate the drama of the sun, or to dim them down to stay unclipped. What are your thougths on this?

Some of the finest solar shots Ive seen in a long time. Sub arcsecond in resolution, I can only dream of the day I trek to the top of Mount Everest to see such a sight! ;)

Pedro, the WL looks like the finest beach sand, calciums like a high resolution close up of tasty cottage cheese, and the hydrogens like a plate of rice with worms on top. Superb!

John, welcome to this premier list. I see your colorizing is decreasing the fine details in a comparison of the two disks. You may be compromising your res withe the Barlow as well by doing this. The best is to use a very small amount of curves for a slight pastel appearance. I'd like to see the Bar...

Dmitry, those gorgeous results are right in line with what I get with Pix Insights RL decon. With white lights I do one more step sinc this form of decon can decrease local contrast variations. That is to apply a mild USM in photoshop. Try this and you'll see what I mean.

Pedro, I use RL decon only on my halpha and calciums. While it is sharper than wavelets on white lights, the contrast is lower on the granulation.

Greetings Solar Friends! A clear morning during our heavy part of the monsoon here in Arizona. Not wasting any time, I set up with the AR152 and waited for the sun to clear the pine trees. When it did, I was in for a suprise - a brilliant venus like spot next to the umbra of the white light sunspot....
