Re: D-ERF in converging beam?

Lots of people use sub aperture ERfs with no issue. However a 160mm DERF will be lots of fun. I think i'd go with the 150/10 Istar.

Re: Sunday 8th December

Thanks guys for the encouraging words :) I was thinking (dangerous I know), is it possible to remove the eyepiece bit with the blocking filter etc and change this new one onto my old PST? I think I would prefer to leave my old PST alone but I could do with a better filter to let more light in. I co...

Re: Introduction and small question

Hi Jochem!

Welcome to the forum. The etalon isn't tuned properly, also try moving the sun around the camera chips fov to find the most even illumination of the solar disk. It's all down to practice and perseverance, that's all!

Re: "Magic" distance of Lunt LS50PT etalon from focal plane?

Slow on the reply here sorry! If the objective is f7.14 (and I don't doubt that!) then yes, for the etalon enclosure (20mm opening) to be not operating as a field stop then the distance is -143mm. If the etalon enclosure is sat at -168mm (25mm further in than -143mm), then it is doing this to act as...

Re: Sunday 8th December

Nice captures Alexandra! I didn't bother going out yesterday despite the blue skies, it was just too cold and the sun is pretty much continually in the trees where I am. Going to visit my parents in Anglesey over new year period, so hoping for some clear skies then.

Re: How bring ASI174MM in focus with PST solar telescope

Change the distance between the Barlow nosepiece and the camera, maybe put in 10 mm extension, should shift the focal position far enough to get away from the end stop of the thread. At the end stop the penta prism will be pushed off square which is why one edge of the disk is out of focus with resp...
