Re: How to double stack a Lunt CaK Module? And ERF?

Easy. Get 2 Lunt CaK filters, keep one intact, the second you need the 12mm eyepeice holder filter (in the case of b1200), stack it in the ep holder of your first intact lunt CaK filter. You can see prominences with a ss CaK in good sky conditions (transparency) and assuming your gamma is kept neutr...

Re: AR2718 Sodium and Ha

They're great images Franco! I too tend to use the diagonal with the Quark too with my HaT, straight through i'm floating on the limits of the focuser and it can feel a little stiff and gritty. There is quite a subtle difference in WL and Na for me, and I find it easier to get better results in Na, ...

Re: Finally some magnetic activity Aug 16th 2018

Good record Stu! There was the faintest of activity on Thursday in Reykjavik but nothing worth bothering about. Last night was clear up here in the north, and despite an early night with the best of intentions to get up and check things out slept all the way through and here we are in the light of m...

Re: H-Alpha August 10th Lunt 152 - feedback wanted!

Can't find the original article, not sure it remains, but Bob Yoesle copy and pasted the (blue) text I was looking for into this discussion on cloudy nights. I think it explains what you are seeing. It's Andy Lunts words from the Lunt blog. https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/598850-lunt-230mm-honest...

Re: H-Alpha August 10th Lunt 152 - feedback wanted!

Hey Bojan. For me what I see when I look at the images, and easier to see on the last 2, is the sweetspot - that is you top centre of the image it is brighter, then it is surrounded by a smile shaped darker band, then the bottom left and right corners are brighter again. This annulus is the sweetspo...

They're very good Ale, your seeing conditions must be exceptional.

I love how on spaceweather.com they say the sun is blank and we are in the depths of solar minimum, with enough aperture and the right wavelength the sun is never blank :)

It only drifts off on the HaT, after several hours Valery, and that has only been this summer when ambient temperatures have been 25c+ outside whilst imaging.

Re: Ha Quantum filter PE 0.4Å

About temperature that is the next problem. I saw yesterday that in my area it is taking long time to cool down or nearly it does not cool down. I think I will have to add some fans to cool it down. Yesterday the Quantum remained for a very long time at 6563.0Å and the light was yellow. I had it ad...
