Re: PST Etalon with a Quark, Log & Results

The limb shot is excellent Marty. Don't worry about the ghost / residual of the double limb; with the etalons you have you are on peak performance. The only way you are going to improve is by doing what Valery does and try many etalons and cherry pick the best. There's nothing wrong with the images ...

Re: New AR is a sign of a new cycle?

More detail - given solar cycle 24 peaked in the (solar) northern hemisphere in november 2011 and (solar) southern hemisphere peaked in february 2014, it would be reasonable to assume solar cycle 25 would start in the (solar) northern hemisphere first, so, this is the region you would look first, an...

Re: New AR is a sign of a new cycle?

No, sorry, equatorial based as opposed to higher latitudes. Same polarity as cycle 24 too. Look latitudes 40 degrees for the start of cycle 25 spots.

Re: What camera?

Mmmm more confused than ever now, thanks :) I just need more frames per second than the Grasshopper that has 25fps. However I don't fancy more cost of a tilter and then more fiddling around. I was going to use the 2x and 3x Barlow with the Lunt CaK module as the 3x worked brillant with the white li...

Re: CaK set-up and first try, 20012019

Hi George, thanks and yes, you are right. I was not precise enough: it is indeed a Baader K-line filter. Yes, I separated the two filters into two different filter cells. The reason was that I had to much reflections going on when the filter was properly stacked in the original filter cel. So now t...

Re: What camera?

Hi Alexandra. Like Bart says it is down to the f-ratio you are working at. F10ish you're looking at the ASI290M, f20ish your PGR will work nice, for F30+ then a 174 chipped camera is the way forward.

It works well Bart. You can just about make out the 'double limb' on the full size image. With the sun high in a deep blue sky you will get proms and disk in one shot easily.
