Re: Alfred Tan's PST etalon tests with SW150mm scope

The gap between an excellent single stack etalon and the double stack isn't that big. But I bet the difference in exposure time is!

Re: Spring ???

Hey Brian! Spring is very delayed here. Not the snow (at the moment!) like you had - however the weather forecast allegedly promises a mini heatwave today and for a few days - we will see. Hope so as I may be able to squeeze in some quick solar after work tomorrow. What the last six months or so eve...

Re: 17Apr18 - ARIES D-ERF on C8 + PST Etalon Images

Looks good, makes sense what you say about it being a bright etalon, I was looking at the pictures before reading what you put and thought the images looked slightly soft, would make sense with a longer exposure not freezing the seeing.

Re: Alfred Tan's PST etalon tests with SW150mm scope

You're lucky to be able to test so many etalons Valery - 30+ PST etalons would cost £15k second hand here. Even more new price...

If you are using that with a 120mm scope on the nosepiece like that my money is that the heat will crack it.

Great set of images Marty. You're getting a good run of solar imaging in lately. I managed a very quick visual with the Lunt50 after work, but the clouds came too quickly for me to get an image in.

Re: Various test results of popular telescopes

My internet service provider really doesn't like that website. When I click 'continue anyway' there is a great repository of telescope optics but I get absolutely bombarded with dodgy popups that won't let me shut them down without ctrl-alt-del

Nice shots Pedro, you've got a good single stack which is one of the reasons there's not a huge difference I guess.

Just use a set of eclipse glasses?

Yes, the binoculars you linked are suitable for looking at the sun at sunset.
