Re: Help tweak this PST + SM40II Double Stack?

You can adjust the pin on the richview tuner, might give you more tuning range.

Re: Big prom 2019/02/14

I observed it yesterday through my LS100 SS as well, very faint, and found the best view with the tuner at lower pressure, almost all the threads showing.Great sketch by the way.

Re: Maier or Beloptik PST

Beloptik only sell the ITF, their site states that the ITF will only work safely with the original block/sort filter from your BF unit, it's not a stand alone filter. The Beloptik filters are as good as the maier ones and are direct drop in replacements for the coronado ITF's.

If anyone is interested, there have been a couple of threads on CN regarding the use of dew heaters wrapped around the Lunt block filter to bring them on band in cold weather.

Re: Thermal Acclimation of My Lunt50

Mark, I have the same issue with both my Lunt scopes using Lunt BF's during winter, the image lacks any detail and can't be tuned with the pressure tuner( for at least half hour or so)If I use Coronado BF's with my Lunt scope's( I have three) I have no issue, a great image straight away. I found in m...

Re: Maier ITF - first failure?!

I use my Coronado BF's with my Lunt scopes. The Maier filter had too much background glow, plus the O ring wouldn't fit which left an exposed bit of filter around the circumfrence. In comparison, the Beloptik filter image looked a lot cleaner without too much glow. Interesting about the Baader, I re...

Re: Maier ITF - first failure?!

I tried the Maier originally, but replaced it with the Beloptik ITF for one BF and a Baader 35nm plus a Beloptik KG3 with IR/UV cut for the other.

Re: Maier ITF - first failure?!

Looks like the Beloptik might be a better option, hard coatings on KG3 and RG630, cost a bit more, and the whole filter diameter is utilised, you don't need the O ring.

Re: Lunt 60 DS -> Lunt 100 DS

I'm not sure why, probably due to the longer focal length, but the 60DS filter produces a slightly better view at an equivalent magnification when mounted on the LS100 compared to the LS60 scope. I also had a Coronado richview 60DS filter which I used with both my scopes and that worked as good as t...

Re: Lunt 60 DS -> Lunt 100 DS

I have a doublestacked LS60 with the 60mm front etalon, and also an LS100 with the DSII etalon. I love the view through the double stacked LS60, great contrast and black background.I also love the view through my single stacked LS100. I can't say the same about the DSII, the glow is annoying and det...

Re: The role of the diagonal mirror is Coronado BF10 and BF15 filters.

Hi Valery, Lunt, on their website state that their diagonal mirror is an IR longpass mirror. I have noticed with my two Lunt BFs that there is a difference in reflection between the two as you say, for brightness control. The Coronado mirrors look very similar in size and coating to the Lunt mirrors...

Re: Today's SUN (20171028) | CORONADO SM TESTS

Thanks for the comparison Pedro. I went through three SMII 60mm etalons that had the central spacer disk come loose. One was a fantastic SS etalon, the other two took were poor to average performers in SS, but worked great as DS units on my Lunt LS60, perfomed as good as my LS60F DS etalon. I also h...
