Re: Sunshine! tinkering with the C11 24/06/2020

Hi Alexandra, I can see many good details in your images. Are you using the same PST etalon for this session as the one you used on 25June (https://solarchatforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=28632)? What BF are you using? So far I have good success with the Coronado BF 5. I have not used Solarscope BF. ...

Hi Alexandra,

Glad to see the best image with your PST etalon so far. The images will get better as you learn more about the PST etalon. I find the x2 barlow a good one to use in this setup. It will be a happy problem if we have a huge AR to image

A very interesting report James, glad to hear of the pores, you must have had excellent seeing in the gaps :hamster: imagine what the 90mm would have been like :) Alexandra Alexandra, I have had overcast skies all day today and did not get to follow up on that pore. The SDO Continuum image shows it...

Hi Jochen,

Nice capture with lots of fine details. It is raining and the sky is filled with clouds when it is not raining. I am looking forward to getting back to imaging again.

Hi Taipan,

Good job in getting rid of NR. Sometimes flats work for me too. A tilt adjuster will be useful for other scenarios.

Great to see your report. What EP did you use with the second telescope (110mm Vixen VMC110)? It has been raining almost daily. No solar ops :(

It is a shame it won't last, as soon as it starts imaging again we will lose it. I wonder how we can record it?

Alexandra
Hi Alexandra,

I have recorded it and post it as an attachment.

Not sure if it works.

Re: Getting rid reflected light in C11 CAK imaging

You will need one of them Alfred, the goldish one, it's that colour to reflect the blue light. The all important CaK filter is the 12mm one in the nosepeice. It may well be that you need both of the larger filters in depending how wide the passband is of Valerys DERF. The front two filters are just...

Re: Getting rid reflected light in C11 CAK imaging

The reflection is not from the front ERF (Aries), I still get the reflection in white light when using Baader Solar film! Alexandra Thanks Alexandra for that piece of information. It rained for extended period this weekend. Hope to test this configuration: https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tITV6IMJYPM/Xu9...

Re: Getting rid reflected in C11 CAK imaging

Alfred, I believe that these two filters work also as wide CaK filter(s). Valery. Thanks for your feedback. One of them has a yellowish tint: https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RSa--sXXwFM/Xu7J57GJz9I/AAAAAAAArEg/kfjlxUwZNN0tXf50d1tNk4e5T_sAPrG0wCLcBGAsYHQ/s640/IMG_20200621_070632.jpg While the other doesn...

Re: Getting rid reflected in C11 CAK imaging

Alfred, Is your primary D-ERF tilted at all? If not, I would add a small 1 degree tilt to it via rubber gasket under 1/2 of the filter inside the holding cell. It should handle your reflection. I too am curious about the innards of a Lunt module in terms of what is in front of the actual narrowband...

Getting rid reflected light in C11 CAK imaging

Hi all, To recap, the best C11 CAK image was obtained using a TV x2.5 powermate + CAK PST yellow filter. Unfortunately it has a reflected light: https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ehY5ZelKI04/Xs0F2fml1jI/AAAAAAAAqlk/PLb-6M53Upo5LTNPC7cIuiyZyrlwtKq_QCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/0858F1.jpg Following up on the suggestions...
