Morning all, Just after some advice re the use of this filter in a Solarmax 40mm. As the erf in the diagonal has rusted its now been removed, and I'm intending to use the H Alpha filter behind the internal objective (see photos) is there anything else I need to be aware of? I have flipped the filter...

The led in the unit still changes to green in all settings but as the objective is bust I'm unable to confirm if the etalon still works. A visual look shows no problems and its not decontacted.

The lower Andover 656FS02-12.5 is also ok.

Yes it's out of warranty and the subject of a house insurance claim due to a broken objective.

Just taken a solar scout etalon assembly to bits, it's a 21mm quark unit masked down to 16mm

I have an old ish Quark prom and it suffers from condensation on the outside of lens immediately after the etalon, is this an easy fix.

Even if I store in in desiccant it still appears after a bit of use.

Recently bought a quark prom second hand, its got a lot of problems (4 in total) but the worst turned out to be a failed ERF.

Anyone got a solution to this?

I found that this stuff dissolves the threadlocker that they use on these scopes, takes a while though i.e. days with a daily re-application to the joint.

You can always convert your BF5 into a BF6 with the careful use of a pillar drill. Need to make sure it is 100% blocked around the edges though as the BF is 6mm square so the tolerance is non existent.

Decided to get an adaptor made and single stack it on the front of the Equinox 80 instead and slightly modded the inside of the etalon housing to stop reflections.

Will even consider one with a rusted erf but would prefer it with an un-rusted one.
