Re: Quark Chromosphere - no image at all
Hi Jochen, looks a familiar experience first time Quark use. Wel if on a dual mount one scope point to the object, does not necessaraly mean the second one also does. (Cone error between the scopes). With the Quark the fov is very small, and also I had troubles finding the Sun first time. Also Quark...

Thank you all for the comments. Seeing conditions were pretty good for that image.
Now (April 5) not much left of the spot. Did make an image this morning and I assume this is whats left or AR2759 Regards,
Paul

Thanks all for the comments.
Just busy now taking new images, and yes the spots are getting smaller, but some new pores seem to appear around it.
Will publish the results later today.

Paul

Spot is getting smaller.
Very bad seeing and taken through a few holes in the clouds. (less clouds in the afternoon but worse seeing)
Taken with the 120mm f8.3 and Baader ND3.8 + Solar Continuum (click on image to see full resolution)

Re: Daystar 127mm aperture fully integrated Solar Telescope
Neither would I. I have a 120mm scope, so for that price could probably buy 7 quarks (and get bulk discount?) and hopefully get 1 good one.I wouldn't want to pay $8k for a Quark grade scope

Re: FD 03-30
My understanding was the 4 stack options were to generate 4 stacks "at the same time" from the same set (left to right on the graph) The diagram is normally shaded, which is the sorted option. You can change that by pressing the frames button on the image window, then you scroll not by quality, but ...

The green line represents the sorted to quality.

Re: Some new activity
Thanks Mark.
I used astrosurface for the stacking but did not use the wavelets of other filters. That was done with IMPPG, which gave me better results. (but i could have settings wrong in astrosurfacce.

Re: FD 03-30
I would say its fixed pattern noise too. But that is strange, never seen that on an AS120.
To much undersampled? What f/ratio did you use Maurits.

An attempt with the C8 today. Very difficult with bad seeing. Not as sharp as I wished.
Kind regards,

Re: focus help for solar
Hi Mattias, Most of the capture programs (FireCapture, Genika and probably also SharpCap) have built-in focus aids. However never had very good results with it. What gives me very good results is Genika with the autofocus feature. But that requires a solid focuser with motor (Needs an absolute focus...

Re: SM2 Etalon, Primary vs Double Stack Module?
Sorry Mark but I don't take that statement and don't understand why we still take such an attitude from manufacturares. I know making etalons is not easy, but if you shift quality control to consumers (and hope you sell it to less knowlegdeble people) well that is NO WAY of doing business!
