Re: Omni xlt 120mm and quark

The first one: my dealer sent it back to Daystar and they sent me something bach after a few months. (Replaced or new, can't say since they have no serial number. Too costly just to put a serial on it? My dealer took all the cost of sending it back and forth (warranty) Second one looked ok with good...

Re: Full solar disk 6th Feb 2020

Hi, yes orientation can be a "problem". I always try to image straight-thru and place the camera so that north (not suns north, but true north). I have 2 ZWO cams the 120 and the 178 and to get a "correct" image I need to place the 120 with the usb connector upwards, and the 178 downwards. (So senso...

Re: ZWO ASI178 "grid" issue

Hi, yes very known problem with the 178. But is not always prominent. Looks like signal/noise ratio can make it worse or better. It is not only in H-Alfa. Take a bias frame and extremely stretch it, you will start seeing the pattern. On "normal" images it is probably swamped in the signal. It can be...

Re: "New" PST comes with a 30mm etalon??

Probably they were inspired by how other filters are measured .... A 1-1/4" thread-in filter is also measured by the outher casing leaving only ~26mm clear aperture. (~1") (But here that is more an indictaion where the thing will fit in) But still guesswork; one (not me) should probably buy one and ...

AR2757

Since most pictures are H-alfa or other narrowband here is some white light. (Just don't want to invest anymore in lottery-like equipment) Taken yesterday in a 15 minute opportunity before the Sun went hiding behind trees. 2020-01-26_T_12-28-59-0727_SC_lapl3_ap559.jpg And a quick crop of the new are...

Re: Genika?

And about the licence: it is camera dependent (cam serial numbers) not computer. So should move to new computer without problems if you also copy the license file (genie.bin) and keep using the same cameras.

Hi Alexandra,

have exchanged e-mails with Frederic in November about the time sync feature. And there have been updates around that time (current version 2.13.5.8)

Rainer,

you might be correct. The image is on flickr and it is huge, (don't know if it is cached on the bbs server) but i get frequent relay-server timeouts. So there is something not good.

Re: Cycle 25 first spot has formed.

I noticed it on sdo (WL) yesterday evening, and it showed a small spot. This morning on SDO the spot was still there but already smaller. Got mu scope out, and by the time the Sun was in range of the scope (around 11:UT) the spot already gone. The AR was still brighter.

Hi, thanks. Exactly what I thought. He is clicking in rapid succession while dragging the mouse over the limb. Good finger exercise :D You can even hear the clicks is you listen very carefully to the sound. So no magic :( For proms what I usually did was place a few (not to many) on areas of the pro...

Re: LuSol Guiding software

Martin, if the Sun is moving in the LuSol guider window, then you probably need to adjust LuSol settings (Agressivity or min move). If the Sun drifts in the main scope and not in the guider then it is probably differentiel drift (or flexure in the guide scope). That happens to me me when guiding wit...

Re: LuSol Guiding software

Martin, I have the AZ_EQ5, that one is equipped with an USB port (with built-in FTDI chip) so I use a standard USB cable. (Type A -> B) An EQDIR cable connected to the port on the mount (where I suppose you now connect the WIFI) should also work. (But you need an EQDIR cable, a normal serial cable a...

Re: LuSol Guiding software

Martin, I was able to do some real test today. Connected Lusol to the synscan app and the zwo cam, did calibration and then did guided and unguided test. (had to change the track rate to Lunar instead of Solar to force guiding errors more quickly). Lusol and Synscan app seemed to work just fine, and...

Re: How bring ASI174MM in focus with PST solar telescope

Yes, that is the one but as you can see on this image the protective window is in the back parts that you need to unscrew to place the part. (other cams have that over the sensor) So you need an extra filter at least for dust protection.

Re: How bring ASI174MM in focus with PST solar telescope

Mark,

suppose you mean ZWO's low profile nosepiece. That is prohlematic on an ASI174. (seems then you need to remove the protective window)
ZWO says: "PS: this new cover can not hold the protect window of ASI174MM/MC, so you need an external 1.25″ filter"

Re: LuSol Guiding software

Hello Martin, downloaded the trial version to give it a try, but will have to wait for the weather to improve. So I tested against the synscan app in emulator mode and could see RA & DEC figures change when applying the manual guide corrections. So in theory it should work, but need to connect to a ...

Hello Franco, Never understood "solar align" for a mount. Isn't that just the same as just slewing to the sun (from the goto planet button) and then align with the control keys. I had to do something to make "Sun" appear as object under the planet button, but can't remember what. (think this was int...
