Re: AR2740 with Bobs filters

Thanks Mark For a while I never thought the filters were ever going to work. But now I can see something I have the solar bug. When I had one of the first PSTs I always thought about ripping it apart and was sure it would work but there was not enough info back then no one had done it. What I have l...

Re: Sub Aperture ERF Options For Quarks

Hi You could try this at the front it would stop quite a bit of heat buildup in the scope https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/B-W-UV-IR-Sperrfilter-486-112-mm-MRC-F-Pro-1070174-NEU-OVP/263472979787?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 The graph seems to fit the bill and as far as I can ...

AR2740 with Bobs filters

I have finally got an image I am pleased with using Bobs ebay filters. The seeing was bad and I only got 30 mins before the sun hit next doors house. The big problem I have had is vertical lines caused by the QHY5II-M seems a big problem with this camera. So I orientated the image that it would drif...

Re: I know there are cheap and expensive

Hi I have two of the sVboney a beloptic and the baader have also tried the baader 35nm all give the same results for solar. The beloptic is on KG3 glass so may have more protection. Personally I would use the one you already have and save your money to put towards a D-ERF. The quark has a good block...

Re: Omega filters working at last

Hi Valery I must admit we did have to persist with Bob he is very slow to respond, not his day job. We have two sets of these filters and I am now going to make another setup for a friend. I think the first set he sent with the bonded front filter may have been done for safety but no one seems to ha...

Re: Omega filters working at last

Thanks Mark I am pleased with the results. The worst thing in my system is the seeing where I sit low down in a valley so not really conducive to good solar viewing so at this magnification I recon the system is working pretty well The big plus for me though is my two ton coude telescope where I can...

Omega filters working at last

Hi Firstly thanks to all for your help, some I have asked for, the other I have gleaned from all the threads. Anyway after more than twelve months of work I have managed to get Bob's filters to work Firstly Bob's original filters had a bonded first filter (etalon) and blocker this caused many reflec...

Re: May 7 2018

Hi Paul From what I have been reading the Quarks are prone to condensation I guess because of the heating as they cool they will draw in the surrounding damp air. Seems to be best thing to do first is pack in silica gel for a while to remove the moisture If still there it will need the filters remov...

Re: First Light with Celestron C11

Hi Alexandra Justa little tip, it is worth investing in another puck/clamp for the dovetail plate on the C11 and leaving it permanently on the C11 dovetail plate just in front of the ADM one you have on your mount. Then when mounting the tube you can just put the dovetail plate into the ADM clamp an...

Re: Sol 2-5-2018 ha

Very nice Steve Just wanted to ask how does the image compare with the visual view, is your visual more or less detailed? I have just got my setup working and wondering if imaging is the next step or not. I have only had a pst before and although sometimes images were good most of the time I could n...

Re: Does a reducer work to achieve F10?

I realise you have moved away from the first question will a reducer work but I will just add to this first question, most reducers are based on a simple petzval (not a true one) lens and although it may work be aware that the elements in the reducer tend to be bonded and will separate if they get n...

Re: multiple images

Hi all back at last with good news I have got the Omega filters to work with a lot of help Peter Zetner's online stuff and others, thanks to all. Firstly the the first set of filters had a bonded blocker and Ha filter, it was this filter causing all the other images so the filters went back and Bob ...

Telecentric Barlow

Hi thought this may be of some use Visionking optics are doing 2x, 3x, 5x 4 element barlow's for £45 on e-bay I asked if they are telecentric and the cap I spoke to was not sure so he stiped one down and sent photos for me Definitely looks correct so if you are building a solar scope or just need a ...

Re: multiple images

Well after thinking we will send the filters back, I thought about Peter Zetner's Omega Ha scope and also Filips Scope both using the rear blue filters etalons. Peter used two and Filip used just one because he had the same problem with his red one. I decided to have a go with the two blue filters (...

Re: multiple images

Thats expensive I have taken great care with them especially after seeing the first image and not being able to move the false images by tilting thought they may have to go back. Very expensive in time and money for me so I don't feel inclined to try any other Omega filters at the moment and Bob who...

Re: multiple images

I did think of that when I had the PST that was before any one had done it but didn't have the guts to have a go, (very unusual for me) I wanted to keep my eyes. My PST was one of the first ones.
