Ha Full Disk 11th November

Hi All, There were some cloud breaks later in Sunday afternoon, and I was able to observe the sun through an open door way as it made it's way towards the horizon. It has been a while since i've got any solar in and it was nice to stand and observe visually for a while before snapping a quick full d...

Re: Another geomagnetic storm 11th Nov 2018

Good record Stu, i'd a couple of alerts come through on my phone these past couple of days too. Your graphic also includes the cycle 25 sunspot that briefly appeared.

Re: High latitude sunspot

It's definitely a cycle 25 spot. Take a look at the graph from Belgium, it's starting to uptick quite quickly once we get into the new year.

Super shots Marty! The spot is reversed polarity (compared to cycle 24 spots) so is part of cycle 25.

Re: Mg II in UltraViolet

'Off the Shelf' UV achromats aren't ideal, but could form a starting point for such a scope. You could make a tiny full disk instrument; the 50/200 https://www.edmundoptics.eu/f/near-uv-nuv-achromatic-lenses/13900/ could replace the objective in a finder scope, and then mount the filters on the nose...
