Re: what should I expect to observe visually these days? (H-alpha)

Like Rod says, stop using the 0.5x reducer, just use the 40mm, 32mm or 25mm plossl. The graphic below shows what you would see using TV plossls.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments, it's just nice to be able to observe the sun. Thursday and Friday are coming up as sunny days so I might see about working at home then and having a solar lunch break...

Re: Sony IMX253 mono cameras

The USB hub you posted Bob and the power supply later would definitely be an improvement on the WallWart power supply. I'm guessing your mount has 12V going to it Bob? Whats the source here? Liking the system! :) That's cool Franco you worked with Cello with ML, I know them. My 2 channel upstairs ru...

Re: Calcium Grains in a Tropical Winter

Alfred, Alexandra. How do you find the focus on your C11s?

I'm going to try collimating, focusing, putting a proper focuser on the back, refocusing and then imaging. I hate the native SCT focus I have to say.

Some friends in Germany sent us a carved cat. Our cat said hello in traditional feline way.

looks like the etalon delamination.
Definitely the etalon and not the blocking filter that is trashed?

Re: Camera choice

Hi there and welcome to the forum Richard!

Either of those point greys are a great starting point, I wouldn't recommend the Canon. You can use sharpcap or firecapture, I personally prefer the latter. You will need a c-1.25" adapter.

Let us know how you get on.

Saturdays Suckers Gap Sunshine 16th January

Yesterday we had a well defined band of rain pass swiftly east wards overnight, and behind followed a 'suckers gap' a band of transparent clear air before bands of showers kick in. I moved the mount slightly to allow me to image earlier as by my usual afternoon slot it would be cloudy again. It was ...

Tube current is one of the major concerns and most of my better images are taken before 9:30am. I use a cooling fan on the HaT https://www.deepspaceproducts.com/product/temp-est-temperature-equilibration-system-for-telescopes---for-edge-hd-and-vented-standard-celestron-scts https://live.staticflick...

Re: Sony IMX253 mono cameras

Looks good Bob! Did you try running it with the gamma disabled? (neutral value is 1024) - that might up the FPS. Using 'cut out' will reduce the data going through the USB which might help too. I run at 9fps for full disk - max throughput of that chip. The USB might well not be giving enough power o...
