Re: Help with solarmax 2 90

Carl, it's just the design of the split tube holder, my SM40 scope had the same seem, and you could see the end of the BF as well, it shouldn't affect the view at all.

Re: Coronado BF30 construction?

Ken there was a thread in the Commercial scopes and equipment section regarding the two part BF30. I'm not sure how to provide a link to it, but if you do a search for 'Coronado BF30 too bright' by FRAZ, you should find it.

Re: Help with solarmax 2 90

Carl, if you're getting a good view of the sun with plenty of detail, it sounds as if your scope is working properly. The black dot you see when out of focus is probably the central bolt/spacer on the internal etalon, which will be there in all the Coranado scopes except the PST. The light leeking t...

Re: Do I have a Lunt lemon?

Going by the disc detail, your LS100 looks like it's working fine. The issue probably has something to do with the sweetspot, which in my LS100 SS is just slightly bigger than the FD, but is slightly off centre, and when DS, the sweetspot is even smaller.

Re: To Double stack, or not to Double stack

I have the LS60 with the DS60F front filter and use the ASI174 as well and have no issues. If you set it up for visual as Ken( Merlin66) explined above, and you can see the sun, you should have no issue when connecting the camera.

Re: Dream come true!

Hi Bob, I'm not sure if you mentioned this before, but how do you know which side of the Lunt ERF faces the sun. I have the 100 and 75mm ERF's and there is nothing to indicate which side to point to the sun. I've been told that there should be an arrow on the edge, but can't see any on either ERF. A...

Re: PST question

I replaced my BF5 with a BF10 and it worked fine. It doesn't change image scale, just gives you more black sky around the sun, ie, stays in view longer before you have to move the scope.

Re: Help! Imaging Source & laptop issues

You can still use your camera, but you will have to set the frame rate to half to see an image. This is a known issue when using imaging source USB2 cameras on newer laptops with USB3 ports and Intel chipsets, for more info have a look at the Imaging source forums.

Re: Coronado BF15 dies and resurected!

Thanks for the info Ken. I have 3 BF10's which have the rust issue, the newer of the 3 showed signs of rusting within months of purchase, I'll give the Maier filter a try. On another note, did you sort out the USB 3 issue with the DMK51.

Re: LS100 DSll Circular polarizer adapter.

It looks okay, the only thing I noticed is that your lens hood seems longer than mine. My one when installed on the main body of the DSII unit is the same length as when the red glass unit is installed. Maybe check to see if it might be touching the main etalon. You could install the CPL in the red ...

Re: LS100 DSll Circular polarizer adapter.

Installing the polirizer should have no affect on focusing. Even if it is of poor quality, it still should focus. Did you check to see if the polarizer hasn't come off inside the scope. Can you post a picture of your set up, it might help to see what the problem could be.

Re: LS100 DSll Circular polarizer adapter.

Yes, I took off the red anti reflection filter. The circular polarizer and camera lens hood fit over the threads on the DSII unit. The rubber lens hood is a standard camera accessory, which I purchased at a local camera store, and I also purchased the circular polarizer from the same store. I tried ...

LS100 DSll Circular polarizer adapter.

I thought I'd put this here in case someone might find it useful. A while back, Gert Gottschalk posted a thread about the ghosting issue with the LS100 DSII unit and his follow up threads regarding the use of a circular polarizer as suggested by Carbon 60 as a fix for the ghosting. As I was having s...

Re: Solar Max II 60mm Etalon on Lunt 60?

Hi Jim, I made an adaptor using a second LS60 lens cap that I purchased from lunt. I used a hole saw to cut a hole slightly larger than the clear aperture and drilled and tapped the T-max tuner to accept the cap, took me a couple of hours one afternoon to make. In the photo in my first post, you can ...
