Bob, Marty thanks for your thoughts.

Ha Eric, I can imagine :) Like looking for the Holy Grail! I'm under no illusions that this will be my one and only H Alpha "upgrade" :o

Hydrogen Alpha Upgrade

Hi All Looking for some wisdom! I have the urge to upgrade my H Alpha observing / imaging rig from my current PST. It has served me well for more than 5 years and whilst my primary interest was in Ca-K it did not seem worth going for anything else. Now I am interested to further my H alpha imaging s...

Re: Easter Monday Sun in three lights

Nice set Stu. Poor conditions all day here and with little or no activity I did not do much more than a bit of visual.

Thanks all
Stu - Yes, white light shots done with the Lacerta wedge. Close ups done with the ASI and the full disk with the DSLR. I have both the Lacerta and Lunt 1.25" wedges but cannot see much difference in the results.

The Sun - 21st April

With all the AR activity moving off the disk I thought today's session might be quite short, turned out quite the opposite! Lots of prominence activity to grab instead. Not a whole lot going on in white light but found some nice detail close up. 20190421-10.jpg 20190421-11.jpg 20190421-13.jpg 201904...

The Sun - 20th April

Tougher conditions today, seeing not bad but some high-haze / cirrus which has left my Ca-K FD a little uneven. Still lots to see today with some decent proms to go with the AR and some nice granulation showing in WL. 200419-6.jpg 200419-5.jpg 200419-7.jpg 200419-0.jpg 200419-1.jpg 200419-2.jpg 2004...

The Sun - 19th April

Clear skies today but rough seeing. These are the best of what I got. Some nice proms showing visually in the PST but not a lot showing in Ca-K today.

The Sun - 12th April

Grabbed some data early Friday but had to leave for weekend camping trip before I had chance to process. Some nice seeing early Friday gave me a chance to get some good data. 20190412-9.jpg 20190412-8.jpg 20190412-7.jpg 20190412-0.jpg 20190412-1.jpg 20190412-2.jpg 20190412-3.jpg 20190412-4.jpg 20190...

Re: Finding Scopes That Are Well Corrected For Ca-K Imaging

Thanks Guys @Mark - Had crossed my mind. I was actually considering the upgrade to try and up the quality of my white light images (removing some of the losses caused by chromatic aberration) but do not want to adversely impact my Calcium imaging. @Bart - great thread with some interesting links, th...
