Absolutely fantastic shots there Valery! I think one of the key things with CaK is to get the aperture right for the seeing, and when it is right less is more, as these images show.

I was talking to Jen on the Daystar facebook page and she tells me Daystar are in the process of a designing a spherical aberration corrected 0.5x focal reducer for Ha use. Could be interesting! :)

Re: Some progress with double stacking

Similar, but definitely not the same. Double stacking has higher contrast in the mid range in the histogram due to cutting photospheric leakage in the Ha wings. Using lower gamma values gets this increase in contrast but with the offset that it causes compression in the shadows and highlights of the...

Re: Some experiments with Lucy Richardson deconvolution

Interesting comparison. IMHO the wavelets are sharpened at much too large a radius and looks unnatural, the LR works much better because is at a smaller radius. The LR and USM version is again over egged IMHO.

Re: Which negative lens for collimated beam.

You should look at the diameter of the exit beam - will you be able utilise the full 40mm aperture of that sm40? or if you can't then you are using less of the aperture of the sm40 and its central obstruction will start to be a higher % obstruction relatively. Also, can you get a 40mm f7 lens 280mm ...

Re: Lunt 35 modification to larger aperture

In this thread I'll chronicle the progress of my Lunt LS35 mod(s). As with Omega Optical filters, for now I'm using my Bresser Messier R102 achromat (102/1000 mm) with a front-mounted Baader 90 mm D-ERF. The mod is non-destructive, as the whole Lunt 35 front etalon assembly (+its ERF) simply goes i...

If you have an nighttime Ha filter screw this on the end of the BF, alternatively use a uv/ir cut filter in addition.
